Casa Mira Montanha is situated in the Monchique mountains (1 hour and 15 minutes approx. on good roads from Faro airport) in a small hamlet called Chilrão. Part of the renovated farmhouse is available to rent (ideal for a couple but can sleep 3-4). Outside is a terrace, barbecue area, stunning views and small private swimming pool (5m x 2.5m). The side of the house available for rent has its own entrance and the terrace is separated by arches and wooden gates, making it fairly private. Perfect for writers, walkers, birdwatchers, artists, cyclists and everyone who enjoys the mountains.

Notes on prices
Prices are based on 2 people staying and can be paid in either euros or pounds. Miniumum stay 3 nights. Longer rentals and writing holidays also available.
If you would like to stay both by the coast and in the mountains we are able to offer a 2 week holiday both in the farmhouse in the Monchique mountains and in an apartment in Salema (please see property P1426) for 400 euros (winter), 550 euros (autumn/spring) 700 euros (high summer).
Changeover day
Changeover day is flexible. We would normally request that you leave by midday and arrive after 3pm.
Accommodation
| Bedrooms: | Bedroom 1 is a loft room with twin beds, Veluxes and en-suite wc. There is also a small second bedroom downstairs. |
| Bathrooms: | The main bathroom has a shower, wc and a whirlpool bath. There is an en-suite wc to bedrooom 1. |
| Kitchen: | The well equipped handmade kitchen has marble worksurfaces, hob, cooker, fridge with small freezer compartment, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher. |
| Living Rooms: | The lounge/dining area has a large dining table, two sofas, TV and DVD player. |

Towels and linen are provided. There is no midweek change. |

Outside
There is a BBQ area on the fairly private terrace leading to a swimming pool (5m x 2.5m). There is also a table, sunshade, chairs and a couple of sunbeds.
Coast/Beach
The coast, either to the south (Alvor/Portimão/Lagos) or the west (Aljezur, Arrifana and Amoreira), takes between 30-40 mins. by car.
Special interest holidays
We also offer creative writing courses (prose fiction) and writing holidays and would be happy to offer a free critique on a short story of up to 2,000 words if you are staying for more than a week. Writing holidays are offered for groups of 3 - 4 for 550 Euros (£395) per person for one week any time from September - June (subject to availability). All levels welcome. The courses are particularly suited to those already in a writing group or a group of friends/colleagues interested in writing - and in discovering a more hidden part of Portugal. There are 5 x 2.5 hour workshops in the mornings (10-12.30 pm), one tutorial and three afternoon excursions. All transport is provided, including airport transfers to and from Faro.
Travel
Due to the remoteness of Mira Montanha, a car is recommended although airport collections are a possibility.
Distances
The mountain town of Monchique and Caldas de Monchique (the spa) are both 20 mins. drive from Chilrão (13km). Marmelete is 10km. Lagos and Portimão are 40 mins. away. It takes approximately an hour and a half to hike up to Foia.
Further details
The nearest restaurants are 7km away. There are plenty of restaurants in Monchique and up to Foia. Banks, local shops are all in Monchique and Marmelete while the nearest supermarkets are in Portimão.
Booking notes
A deposit of £100 is required at time of booking. The remainder should be paid at least two weeks before departure.
