Quinta Catevento lies close to the coast - yet off the beaten track - between Tavira and Fuzeta. Set amidst working vinyards and orange groves, it enjoys a seclusion rarely found these days along the Algarvian coast. The three houses at Quinta do Pinheiro have all been renovated from the original farm buildings to offer tourist accommodation with true regional and antique/historic features and atmosphere. You may be content just to enjoy the sun, pool and peace. Otherwise, the wonderful, long, sandy beaches and the birdlife of the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve are close at hand; the coastal towns of the Eastern Algarve (Tavira, Fuzeta, Olhão, Vila Real, Castro Marim) are all within easy reach, and the hills of the Serra do Caldeirão lie just to the north.

Prices are for the property per week in GBP's. For the winter period changeover days and length of stay are flexible. Please ask us for prices for longer winter stays.
Changeover day
We have a Saturday changeover day, we can however be flexible out of season.
The houses are cleaned on a Saturday, linen and towels are supplied. However, we do not supply cot linen or beach towels.

Notes on accommodation
Casa da Vinha: you will not find a farm house in the Algarve more packed with original features, original furniture and antiques than Casa da Vinha. This is 'The 19th Century House' Algarvian style.
Casa da Avo: dating back over 400 years, Casa da Avó is a quaint, homely cottage with lovely period features.
Casa da Eira: Casa da Eira is a spacious house with a great open plan living and kitchen area.
No smoking in the houses please. Sorry, no pets.
Outside
Casa da Vinha: Shared pool (7 x 7m), private courtyard and private roof terrace.
Casa da Avó: Private pool (10 x 5m) and private courtyard and garden.
Casa da Eira: Shared pool (7 x 7m) and private courtyard.
Each house has a small private courtyard. Casa da Eira and Casa da Vinha share a large, cobbled outside area surrounding the pool - a large, square, converted water cisterna. Casa da Avó has its own cobbled outside area and garden surrounding the private pool. All houses have outside dining furniture and sun beds. Each house is allocated a shaded parking space for one car. Quinta da Pinheiro is not overlooked by any other houses as it lies in the middle of vinyards and orange groves. The houses all face southwards with views towards the pine covered hill of 'Pinheiro', the lagoon and the sea.
Coast/Beach
5min walk to the water's edge. Ria Formosa Natural Park made up a large system of tidal lagoons. Stroll along the shore dotted with small boats, or strike out along a system of embankments & sand banks beyond (good for bird watching). The beaches lie in a long strip 0.5km beyond this shore. Can also be dropped by boat or small public ferry to other beaches. Long, white sand, beaches. Nudist areas. Warmest water in Portugal.
Travel
The nearest airport is Faro, just a 20 - 30 minute drive away. The next nearest airports are Seville (Spain) - a two hour drive away, and Lisbon - a three hour drive away.
A hire car is a good idea as it is three kilometres to the nearest town and it will allow you to explore further afield. Neill and Anna will send you local car hire information on booking.

Quinta do Pinheiro is situated far from other tourist locations, in a quiet area between Tavira & Fuseta. It is an ideal spot for those who want to escape crowds & entertain themselves. It will suit nature lovers/bird watchers/runners/cyclists/walkers/fishers.
There is small local shop & cafe just a few min walk away. The nearest restaurant is a 10-15 min walk away . Very popular amongst locals & ex-pats, it serves a range of local seafood & meat dishes in down-to-earth surroundings at down-to-earth prices. The nearest food shops are at Luz de Tavira, 2km away.
Tavira is a charming small town with a history going back to Roman times. In the historic centre there are many old buildings in various states of dilapidation 7 renovation, the remains of a castle, & a bewildering number of churches. Pavement cafes abound. The river Gilão runs through the centre of town. Boats leave from town out to the beach. On summer nights, there is often public entertainment in the park by the river. There are plenty of restaurants, many of which specialise in seafood.
St Luzia is a picturesque, small octopus fishing town close to Tavira. The only activities are strolling the promenade, watching local life, & eating at one of the many restaurants. A boat runs out to the local beach.
Fuzeta is a small fishing town with beaches both in the town and out on the island. Busy and alive in summer, it remains very Portuguese throughout the year.
Olhão is a large, busy town with a great waterfront & a pleasant old quarter. Centre of the local fishing industry, it boasts many good sea food restaurants & the best fish & food markets in the area. Boats go to some of the farther island beaches. Remains very Portuguese.
Faro is a town with a charming old quarter, pedestrian centre & marina - as well as the airport. It has good shopping areas both in town & out-of-town. You can also get a boat out to the furthest island beach or drive to Faro's own very popular strand.
Booking notes
Bookings more than 2 months in advance of arrival, 30% deposit required at time of booking. Remaining 70% payable 2 months before arrival. Booking less than 2 months in advance of arrival, 100% payable at time of booking. In case of cancellation, the 30% deposit is non-refundable. Of the remaining 70%, we undertake to pay back as much as we recoup in replacement bookings. However, we advise clients that they should also cover their own risk of cancellation in their holiday insurance policy.
