The old farmhouse has been lovingly restored featuring; traditional stone and clay tiled floors, chestnut beams, arched doorways, wooden floors and ceilings which give the house a special `feel`. The house also has wood burning stoves and open plan relaxation/meditation platform. The 2 hectare farm has an olive grove, small organic vegetable garden and orchard and a large pond. There is a shaded picnic area next to the natural shade provided by loquat trees and grapevines which overhang the wells. The surrounding hills are ideal for walking through unspoilt natural beauty as far as the eye can see. Nearby is the picturesque village of Santa Clara and its beautiful and secluded lake-ideal for swimming. We are a spectacular mountain drive to the spa town of Monchique. Share your time between the peace and tranquility of the countryside and exploring some of the best beaches that Portugal has to offer or you may simply want to stay still. Alternative therapies available on request.

Notes on accommodation
The bedrooms and bathroom are upstairs. No Pets please as there is already a dog on the farm. Please no smoking inside. The house is heated by 2 wood burners ideal for cosy winter lets (logs available at nominal cost). Thick walls provide excellent insulation for both winter and summer air conditioning not needed (room fans available).

Outside
There is an outside picnic area (camp kitchen by prior arrangement) and shaded area with hammock and outdoor shower. There is a large natural pond. In front of house is a rustic shaded area with table and bench for eating alfresco. Sun loungers and chairs.
Coast/Beach
40 min drive west to Zambujeira do Mar (traditional Portuguese village with fresh fish restaurants and selection of beautiful beaches) and other stunning Atlantic west coast national park beaches. 40 min drive south to Albufeira and other popular Algarve beach resorts.
Special interest holidays
The house is available to rent independently. At any point during your stay, a variety of therapies are available on request and take place in our uniquely restored `Bread Oven Barn` adjoining the house. This is a small intimate space ideal for a yoga class of up to 5 people. Yoga `taster sessions are available for beginners on request as are the following therapies:- Shiatsu- a holistic body therapy based on Chinese medicine. Reiki - an ancient form of of hands-on healing-both treatments are received fully clothed. For those wanting a more intensive experience an individually tailored programme can be agreed by prior arrangement including any of the above plus:- a progressive series of yoga classes, shiatsu Do-in (learn a simple self massage for the whole body), simple relaxation, breathing and meditation techniques. Individual sessions / treatments, or Group sessions available. We can help you to design a suitable programme given a little notice.
Travel
1 hour 15 min drive from Faro Airport, car hire strongly recommended as public transport available but infrequent.
Distances
10 mins walk to local village, 20km breathtaking mountain drive to the spa town of Monchique with Foia - the highest mountain in Southern Portugal, 15 km to picturesque Santa Clara lake and village. Spectacular 40 min drive to historic capital Silves.
Further details
Local village has 2 small shops (with basic essentials), 1 restaurant, 2 cafes. Monchique has all amenities. (thermal spa, bank, post office, supermarkets, outdoor and indoor swimming pools, restaurants, bus station etc.) Silves has river cruises, Moorish castle, new leisure centre, large supermarkets, range of restaurants, shops etc).
