Set in a secluded location overlooking the small fishing village of Salema with its gloriously long, 'blue flag' beach of golden sand, and close to many other unspoilt beaches. Surrounded by Costa Vicentina nature reserve - a magnet for walkers and ornithologists. 5 minutes drive away from Parque da Floresta golf centre and within easy reach of several other golf courses. Restaurants and bars in Salema, nearby Burgau and also in Lagos.

Changeover day
Changeover day is fairly flexible. Arrival by arrangement from 4pm, depart 10am.

Living Rooms: Open plan lounge/dining room with traditional Algarve fireplace (fitted with woodstove), 2 sofas, dining table and 6 chairs.

Linen and towels provided, except beach towels. Maid service twice weekly.

 

Notes on accommodation
This property is situated on a hill and access is via 2 flights of steps, therefore it may not be suitable for someone with mobility difficulties. We request that clients observe our non-smoking policy in respect of the apartment.

Coast/Beach
Nearest beach at Salema is less than 5 minutes' walk away. Two other beautiful, unspoilt beaches approx 40 minutes' walk from Salema. This stretch of the Algarve also boasts many wonderful and often deserted beaches. Various surfing beaches within easy driving distance.

Golf
Parque da Floresta golf course and leisure centre lies just a couple of minutes' drive away from Salema. Quinta da Boavista, Penina and Palmares golf courses are all within 15-30 minutes by car.

Travel
Faro airport is just 1 hour 15 minutes' drive away. Transfer by taxi can be arranged, if desired. Car hire is not essential but would be recommended, to appreciate the variety of attractions within this region.

Distances
The old town of Lagos with its winding, cobbled streets, interesting shops, restaurants, street entertainers etc is 15 minutes' drive away. The Monchique mountains with forests of eucalyptus, cork oak and fig trees, orange and lemon groves, are half an hour's drive away. Sagres - just 10 minutes away by car - is where Prince Henry the Navigator set up his school of navigation in the 15th century, and subsequently watched his 'Discoverers' set off to explore the west coast of Africa and beyond.

Further details
Salema has a variety of restaurants and bars, many offering traditional Portuguese food. Several shops selling typically Portuguese pottery, leather goods, textiles, jewellery, and other artefacts. Three small supermarkets in Salema. The ATM is right by the beach!
The region is rich in architectural heritage and antiquities, with Moorish influences much in evidence, not least in the characteristic Algarve chimneys. Castles, churches and monuments abound, charting Portugal's history of occupation by various countries and cultures over the centuries.
