Only 30 mins drive from Faro airport, 'Balaia' is a world apart and makes each day pure perfection - peace, tranquility and pleasurable activities all in one delightful location. The low rise white apartment/villas with purple and red bourgainvilla abounding, are set against a backdrop of pine trees in beautiful semi-tropical gardens. Golden beaches, watersports etc, are a short stroll (500m) away - the 9-hole golf course is in Balaia's own 'garden' and 8 other courses are within a 20 minute drive. The 'A Varanda' & 'Le Club' restaurants and various pool bars, all offer good food + theme evenings if you do not wish to wander to the many superb local eateries.

Changeover day
Flexible. We do not (normally) allow entry to apartments before 4pm but we try to arrange 'earlier', if possible. Departure 'must' be by 10am for incoming guests; (again, flexible, if possible).

All electric; 1st Floor, superior and luxury throughout; white tiled floors; air conditioning + ceiling, floor fans. Spacious living room; dining area: bed-chairs/settees; cable TV/DVD/Video; radio/CD; terrace overlooking gardens. Kitchen: fridge/freezer; dishwasher; washing machine; full oven; ceramic hob; microwave, etc. Large bedroom, twin/double beds; dressing unit; fitted wardrobe; terrace overlooking gardens. Bathroom: bath, shower, WC, vanity unit with cupbards under.

A 2 or 3 bedroom apartment, larger but almost identical in design to the 1 bedroom apartment with 2 bathrooms (1 en-suite), spacious airy rooms throughout. Kitchen is fully fitted with dishwasher, fridge, freezer etc., plus a utility room housing the washing machine and dryer. Electric fans (or air conditioning where fitted), white tiled floors; white windows.

Notes on accommodation
Bed settee-chairs with sprung mattresses; Floor/ceiling fans (or air con where fitted), shutters fitted to doors and windows. Linen and towels provided per person for each 7 night stay; longer than 7N periods includes a mid-hol laundry change & clean; (additional laundry changes, cleaning, z-beds, cots, etc., can be arranged , hired and paid for locally, by guests). Beach towels are not provided. Electricity, gas (where applicable), and water are included. Pets are not allowed.
Outside
The Village has 6 pools (2 heated), Golf, Tennis, Croquet, Boules, Table tennis, children's play area - a Kids Club in high/peak seasons. The Health Club provides heated pool, jacuzzi, steam room and gym. There is a shopping terrace with mini-market and newsagents, hairdresser and beautician.
Coast/Beach
The local Marie-Luisa and Santa Eulalia beaches are close by, approx a 10 and 20 min walk; the walk to Marie-Luisa beach may not be suitable for those with mobility problems; water sports, fish restaurant/bar. Olhos d'Agua, a traditional fishing village where you will find working local fishermen, cafes, etc., is close by. Oura beach offers a Diving Centre.
Golf
Balaia's 9 hole executive course with clubhouse and shop totals 984m. Driving Range, putting green; lessons; hire of clubs etc. Some of the finest championship golf courses are within a 10/20 minute drive. Spiked shoes and 'proper' dress are required for the 9-hole golf course.
Travel
Faro airport is 35km west and approx 30 mins drive away. Transfers from and to the Airport can be pre-booked. Car hire is not essential but useful. Local-bus stop outside the main Balaia entrance serving local areas. Taxis can be requested at Reception and there is, sometimes, a Shuttle bus operating locally.
Further details
There is a 24 hour reception service + 24 hour security; we would recommend that you hire a safety deposit box in reception for peace of mind at all times. There is a terrace next to the main entrance offering a mini-market, newsagents etc; other local shops, restaurants are all within easy walking distance. Vilamoura Marina, deep-sea fishing, etc. is only a short drive or bus ride away as is the new Albufeira Marina where you can take sea trips - Albufeira's 'Strip' and old town are a 'must' and only a 20 min walk via the back roads, or take a bus or taxi.
