Modern 3+ bedroomed house with swimming pool set in idyllic countryside. Superb beaches, golf, historic cities and museums within driving distances of 40 to 80km. Interesting walking and cycling locally. The only ski resort in Portugal is at the Serra da Estrela mountain range. This is also home to a National Park and is approximately a 2 hour drive.

Notes on prices
Prices are based on 4 people staying. Each additional person is 80 euros per week. Long lets at reduced rates. Negotiable rates for stays over 2 weeks. Special rates to fill late availability dates or cancellations. 30% non-refundable deposit on booking. £100 refundable security deposit is required at the time of booking against wilful damage or neglect.
Changeover day
Saturday is preferred changeover day but this can be flexible.

Towels. pool towels and linen included. If renting for two weeks or more, a cleaner will come in to clean during that period. |
Notes on accommodation
Families with young children need to be aware that the pool is not fenced off. The shallow end is 4'4" and the deep end is 6'8".

Accessibility
Wheelchair users would be happily accommodated on the first floor, although the path up to the villa is a little steep, there is only one step from the road up to the path. There is a driveway which is also a little steep, but again no steps. All amenities are accessible from the poolside area which is by the front door. More photos can be offered to ensure that this would be suitable. The road to the villa is short but too steep to push a wheelchair.
Outside
The villa has only one neighbour (English couple) and is a very tranquil setting. Sipping a glass of wine on the shaded porch overlooking the pool listening to the birds singing and the pine trees swaying in the gentle breeze, it is something close to heaven! Garden with private, unfenced, pool (about 10m x 5m). Outdoor furniture and eating area. Large brick built BBQ available.
Coast/Beach
There are numerous lovely beaches along the Atlantic Coast from S. Pedro de Moel to Figueiro da Foz. A little further afield is Nazare, a picturesque fishing village. Castanheira de Pera is about 30 mins drive away with a manmade water park and a large wave machine.
Golf
Golf can be found at Curia (9 holes)(about 50km), Viseu (about 80km) and the acclaimed Prai d'el Rey resort (about 70km).
Skiing
Limited skiing is possible in the Serra da Estrela mountain range. 2 hours drive approx.
Special interest holidays
The coast is only 45 mins or so away, but even nearer to the villa are river beaches. One of the best is at Mosteiro (about 20 mins drive) and has a cafe, toilet and outdoor seating. San Simao river beach is about 5 mins and is in a wonderful rugged setting. Also there is some rock climbing in this area. Pedrogao Grande is definitely worth a visit with a huge dam and wonderful views of the river.
Historic Tomar with a lovely medieval castle is within easy driving distance as are the Roman ruins of Conimbriga, not to be missed! Fatima with it's religious shrine is also within easy driving distance.
Travel
Car is essential. Lisbon Airport is an easy mostly motorway journey of about 180 km. Porto Airport is about 190km. There are two small bars and a small foodstore about a 20 minute walk away from the villa.
Distances
Ansiao, the nearest town about 8km away, is small, but steadily developing, with supermarkets and shops plus a cinema and indoor pool, internet cafe and restaurants.There is a bustling Saturday market. Pombal which is about 15 minutes drive has a big Intermarche supermarket. The university city of Coimbra is about a 45km drive and has many interesting sights to see, shops, restaurants and nightlife. Generally, there is a wealth of countryside and coastal places to visit within easy distance.
Further details
Banks and internet facilities are to be found in Ansiao and the local restaurants are good and cheap.
