The medieval walled town of Obidos is nearby and Sintra, Mafra and the great abbeys of Alcobaca & Batalha are all within easy reach, making this an ideal base for golfers and non-golfers alike.

Outside
Attractive shared gardens, private to the condominium, with large (20m) pool and separate children's pool. Shared barbeque area with sink.
Coast/Beach
10 minute walk to miles of unspoilt beach supervised near the resort by two lifeguards in season. Paddling and gentle beach activities at the Obidos lagoon, 10 minutes away by car.
Golf
Respected American golf architect, Cabell B. Robinson, viewed being asked to design the 18 hole par 72 championship Praia D'El Rey golf course as the opportunity of a lifetime. It is certainly one of the most picturesque layouts in Europe, set in extensive grounds of pine forest and undulating dunes with spectacular views over the Atlantic. The course is visually stunning and tremendously exciting to play. Because of the endless variations of the terrain you'll never play it the same way twice. Cabell has designed the course to be the complete golfing challenge with bold deep bunkers, undulating greens, and natural sand border areas contrasting sharply with the lush green fairways. The ladies' tees are also far enough forward to make sure that length isn't a problem. Cabell feels very strongly that the course must be fun for everyone to play. Praia D'El Rey, rated 13th best course in Europe by Golf World magazine, has become one of the major golfing destinations in Europe.
Travel
One hour from Lisbon airport (Monarch, BA, TAP, Easyjet) about 2-3 hours from Porto (Ryanair) and three hours from Faro.
Distances
15 minutes drive to Obidos and Peniche, the nearest towns. 20 minutes to Caldas da Rainha for more extensive shopping.
Further details
There are many excellent restaurants nearby, and the area being as yet relatively undiscovered they are cheaper than the Algarve - details in the apartment.
