Changeover day
Changeover days ~ Saturday from 1st June until 30th September.
Your cottage will be made available to you on your day of arrival at 4pm and must be vacated on your departure day by 10am.
Notes on accommodation
Our beautifully stone built cottages are cool in the summer months and warm in the winter months.
We have a solar powered hot water system and a natural salt water swimming pool.
We provide you with a Guest Hamper compliments of Monte da Quinta. Which includes: milk, tea, coffee, water, juice, local fresh bread and biscuits, regional cheese & wine, butter, pate and our free range eggs.
We have a cot with linen, two travel cots and a baby chair. We are happy to provide these items at no extra cost.
A communal Laundry room with several washing machines and a tumble dryer. We do ask a small charge of 5 Euros, this does however include your washing detergents.
We sell postcards, stamps and small souvenirs as well as honey, preserves, fresh free range eggs and various seasonal produce.
Outside
Each cottage has a private covered dining terrace and garden with a brick built BBQ. Our guests are amazed at the unspoilt views over the Alentejo plains from the terraces at Monte da Quinta.
The swimming pool is uniquely designed & measures 11.5m x 5m, a level 1.5 meters deep, situated within the landscaped areas immediately to the front of the cottages. An elevated position providing a fantastic vantage point for the stunning southerly views. The pool uses a balance of natural salt rather than or chemical chlorines, the water contains approximately 10 percent the salt level of sea water. A 4 mtr circular children’s shallow play pool is incorporated in the main pool.
The main pool terrace has special non slip pavers surround the pool area. Ample loungers, sun shades and seating are provided. The lower terrace is slightly more secluded but still maintains an elevated position and views over the countryside.
We have a Boules pitch set within the landscaped grounds.

40 minutes drive south lies the popular and beautiful beaches and towns of the southern coastal region known as the Algarve. 60 minutes drive west lies the stunningly, unspoilt beaches, estuaries and towns along the Atlantic coastline.

Travel
Faro or Lisbon Airport. A toll road from Faro to Lisbon provides an alternative choice of route to Castro Verde. Both routes offer spectacular scenery through the Algarve and the Alentejo regions. 50 minutes on the new motorway the A2 from Faro Airport. 1.5 hours on the A2 motorway from Lisbon Airport. Car hire is essential.
Distances
A 5 minute walk into Castro Verde town centre. A 2 minute drive to three large supermarkets. To the north are the towns of Beja, the capital of the Alentejo province (30minutes), Evora (2 hours), Mertola (45 minutes)and the captial Lisbon (1.5 hours); all beautiful towns and steeped in history. The Algarve is less than 1 hour. An easy trip to visit the towns of Faro, Lagos, Portimao, Loule, Albufeira, and Tavira.

Within walking distance the extremely well equipped town has several restaurants and coffee shops, a choice of three large supermarkets with excellent fresh fish, meat and deli counters, a health centre with A&E and 24hr pharmacy and a large open air market on the 1st Wednesday of every month. The town has boutiques, hardware and household shops. There is a post office, several banks with cash points, an internet cafe, a night club, public swimming pools and tennis courts, a spa offering various therapies and treatments, a coach station, cinema, several churches a cultural centre and museum. There are also several petrol stations within Castro Verde.
Rest assured - Our holiday cottages were restored to strict guidelines which include: mains drainage, mains electric, solar water heaters, no gas appliances, our pool water is regularly tested. As a registered business we are licensed operators for tourism and insured for public liability. We are regularly inspected for health and safety. We are on site to assist, manage and maintain the standards at Monte da Quinta. We ask you to be aware of illegal unlicensed holiday properties offering low rates.
Booking notes
Payment in Sterling or Euros. We require your 40% non-refundable deposit when making your reservation. Reservations are not guaranteed until we are in receipt of your deposit. The balance must be received 6 weeks prior to your arrival. All bookings made within 4 weeks of arrival must be paid in full. If you need to change your reservation we will try to accommodate, however if this is not possible we are unable to refund your deposit. Minimum Age - 21 years of age unless accompanied by an adult.
