Coast/Beach
In the Eastern part of the Algarve we can find some of the finest sandy Blue Flag beaches. 'Praia do Barril' – some 5 kms from Tavira. A clear sandy beach that can be accessed from the Pedras d’El Rei resort, by foot, or by train.
“Ilha de Tavira“ – reached by boat from Tavira’s town centre or from the pier at 4 Águas (2 Kms from Tavira’s centre).
Other famous beaches in the region are: Montarrota; Praia Verde; Altura; Monte Gordo, all with restaurants, beach, volleyball and football.
Golf
Three 18 holes golf courses (Benamor, Quinta da Ria and Quinta de Cima), and one 9 holes course (Colina Verde), are within 10/15 minutes drive. There are several other golf courses nearby, some with international awards, in the Vilamoura area that are less than one hour’s drive.
Travel
Faro airport is about 30 kms, and there is taxi, train and bus service. Car hire is recommended but not essential.
Distances
Tavira town centre is within easy walking distance from apartment. Major cities in the Algarve are no longer than 1 hour drive; the Spanish border is just 20kms and Sevilla 90 minutes drive.
Further details
Tavira has a wide range of restaurants overlooking the River Gilão with excellent fish and seafood. There are also cash machines, Post Office, supermarkets and a number of bars and shops.
Booking notes
Payments: 50% deposit to confirm booking. Balance due one month before arrival, or full payment at time of booking if reservation is made less than one month before date of holiday. A breakage and damage deposit of € 300,00 is payable with the balance and is returned by post after departure.
Cancellation refunds:
Up to 6 weeks - no cancellation charge
4-6 weeks - 50 % of rate refunded
2-4 weeks - 25 % of rate refunded
Less than 2 weeks - no refund
