Casa Alexandra is a privately owned villa. It is 8km from Tavira. It sits within beautiful countryside on a hill and is set in 1.4 acres of private land, surrounded by pretty gardens and carob and olive orchards. The villa was built in 1991 in the traditional Portuguese style. It was extended and completely renovated in 2008 with new bathrooms, kitchen. It has ample terracing with an 8x4m private swimming pool. In 2009 a balcony was built off the first floor bedroom and a vine covered area for eating is underneath. Golf courses, horse riding and easy access to Spain all make the villa a perfect holiday retreat. There are many lovely walks where you can enjoy the typical Portuguese countryside. The villa is very private as buildings and neighbours are few and far between. The small quaint village of Santo Estevao is 3 km away and a shop/quiet bar is conveniently located about 300m at the foot of the track. People say its a wonderful haven and they have had the best holidays here.

Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds. WIFI is available for an extra charge of £15 per week.
Changeover day
Changeover day is strictly Wednesday. Access to the villa is normally after 2pm and departure by 10am. Between 10am and 2pm bags may be left with limited access to the villa whilst it is being cleaned, but please make these arrangements locally.

Towels and linen provided and changed weekly. Cleaners come in on changeover day. The property is prepared for your arrival by our local English managing team. A welcome pack is supplied, which includes, bread, milk, eggs, wine etc. |

Please note. The owners are now living in this property most of the year. The property is only available for rent in the summer months. See availability. So, it is expected that you treat this property as you would your own home. Fly screens have been fitted throughout the villa, so windows can be left open.

Outside
Private gardens. Private pool 8 x 4m. Ample sun beds and outside table and chairs. Brick built barbecue. Patio suitable for yoga. There is a covered area with table and chairs under the balcony for relaxing and eating. In 2009 we planted many fruit trees and now have a large green house where organic vegetables are grown. There is also a large car port for vehicle parking under cover, plus ample drive way. Coming up the driveway there are palms and flower beds.
Coast/Beach
15 minutes drive to nearest beaches. You can take a boat from Tavira to the Ilse of Tavira, or take the train or walk across to stunning beaches. The Isle of Tavira beach was listed Lonely Planet's top ten of world beaches in 2009. There are also many small beaches to find and explore. The villa is located about 3km from the only waterfall in the Algarve called Pego de Inferno.
Golf
15 mins away is The Monte Rei, which is a prestigious Jack Nicklaus Signature Course - meaning he was involved in the design of the course rather than just putting his name to it. Set in the picturesque foothills of the Eastern Algarve, the course has some impressive views of the Serra do Caldeirao mountains to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the south. 2 sets of golf clubs are in the house and available for loan.
Travel
30 minutes drive from Faro airport. Car hire is strongly recommended.

300m to 'corner shop'. 3km to Sto Estevao. 8km to Tavira. 20 mins to Spain.
Further details
Tavira is one of the best secrets in the eastern Algarve. It is a traditional Portuguese town that has charm and a river, along with delightful gardens and ampi-theatre where live music and performances can be enjoyed. There is a Roman bridge across the river and the history of the town dates back to the Bronze Age. There is a large shopping centre on the edge of Tavira, with supermarket and shops. There are many good restaurants in the area. We have an information book with details of whats on and special places to visit. In particular Tavira Island (Portuguese: Ilha de Tavira) lies south of the town of Tavira, just a few hundred metres off the coast. It is 11 kilometres long and varies between 150 m to 1 km in width. The island has 11 km of the best beaches in the Algarve, including areas where naturism can be legally practised. It is part of the Natural reserve of Ria Formosa. It is also popular among tourists, people that like to swim and bird watchers. Access to the island is by ferry, and also by a small floating bridge in the Santa Luzia/Pedras d'El Rei area. Just 3KM from the villa is the Algarve's only waterfall. It is stunning to view, but also a cool place to swim as the waterfall cascades down into a lagoon. We find that the villa is such a wonderful chilling place that although there are terrific places to visit close by, sitting by the pool and looking at the views is enough for many visitors.
