Quinta Japonica is a private villa set on a small hill in the beautiful Algarvian countryside, in a quiet peaceful location 3 kms from Sao Bartolomeu de Messines - a small country market town with a variety of shops, bars and restaurants. The area around the villa is ideal for walking, bird watching, photography, sketching or observing the local inhabitants carrying out their tasks in much the same way as their ancestors did many years ago.

The landscaped garden is large with a lawn and different areas for relaxing. Wide steps lead down to the 12m x 6m swimming pool and terraces, sun beds, tables and chairs. New large ornamental lake with island.

There are many beaches within 30 minutes to 1 hour away depending on choice. Larger shopping and tourist areas are 20 minutes to 1 hour. Lagos and Vilamoura are approximately 1 hour away. Both have marinas, many interesting shops, restaurants catering for all tastes, and places of historical interest, as do Portimao (45 mins), Silves (20 mins) and Faro (55 mins). Crazy World 15 - 20 mins away caters for 'children' of all ages with a petting park (animals), quad bikes, crazy golf, restaurant and other attractions.
The 'Big One' water slide park and Zoo Marine with its dolphin, seal and parrot shows, roundabouts, etc., all provide for fun days out. For golf lovers there are an abundance of first class golf courses in the Algarve. Tennis enthusiasts are also adequately catered for. Horse riding is situated about 10 minutes away from the villa. Bird watching, walking and painting groups can also be joined at some dates in the year.
The English owners normally live in the villa but, during the holiday period, will be staying in a self-contained basement apartment with their own patio. All other terraces and pool, etc., are for the sole use of guests where privacy is guaranteed. A generous welcome pack will be waiting on your arrival. About the owner
Jack and Patricia Trafford have lived in the Algarve for 20 years after having Quinta Japonica built for them. Jack is a landscape gardener and has spent most of his time in the garden. He has built extensive gardens with seating areas and an ornamental lake that attracts turtles, frogs, ducks, waterhens etc. creating the perfect environment for a peaceful relaxing holiday.
