The apartment is on the first floor of a small three-storey block, 10 minutes walk to the 4km sandy beach and 5 minutes to the unspoilt harbour via traditional cobbled streets. Alvor has excellent restaurants serving everything from locally-caught barbecued fish to international cuisine. Whilst a car is not essential, there are multiple places of interest within a short drive and the apartment benefits from a reserved, secure parking space. The accommodation is luxuriously furnished and equipped.

Coast/Beach
Alvor beach is 4km long, clean, sandy and unspoilt. The east end of the beach has the coves and rock formations for which the Algarve is well known. The salt flats to the west are an internationally recognised site for bird watchers and other naturalists. The Algarve is renowned for its beaches, several others of which are within easy reach.
Golf
Many of the Algarve's famous golf courses are close by. Nearest, at 5/10 minutes drive are the championship course at Penina and Alto Golf and Country Club. Also near are Boa Vista, Morgado, Palmares, etc. Hire of equipment and specially negotiated rates and transport can be arranged close to the apartment.
Travel
Faro airport is 70 km away (approximately 45 minutes drive on new motorway). Transport to/from Alvor can be arranged at advantageous rates. The bus and taxi services in and around Alvor are good and reasonably-priced. All essential amenities are close to the apartment. Car hire and excursions can be arranged at competitive rates.
Distances
Alvor village is situated between the towns of Portimao (5km) and Lagos (17km). To the north, in the hills, is the spa town of Monchique (20km). Lisboa is about 3hrs on the new motorway and the Spanish border about 1.5 hrs.
Further details
Alvor has shops, restaurants, bars, market, supermarkets, hospital, banks, post office, etc. Portimao, Faro, Lagos and Silves are of historical and cultural interest. Shopping complexes are available in Portimao and at other nearby locations. The western Algarve coast is dramatic and beautiful, Cape St Vincent being the most south-westerly point in Europe. The Monchique hills, inland, are famous for their spa, chicken piri-piri, and for producing the cork for most of the world’s wine bottles!
