Luxury villa in very private position, in its own quiet grounds which are not overlooked. It has fantastic and unobstructed sea views from the terraces. The large 10 x 5m pool can be heated. There is a pool side BBQ with a shady seated bougainvillia covered bower, and a cool inner courtyard with another BBQ for hot days. The villa is on the coast within 5 mins walk of the beach. A 9 hole golf course lies behind. It is close to many restaurants and village shops, and an excellent fruit and fish market. Carvoeiro has no high rise buildings. It was a fishing village which has grown in to a small town. WiFi is available.

Notes on accommodation
The villa is light and spacious, benefiting from wonderful views from all windows. Has the feel of a family home rather than a rented property. The villa is ideal for families as it is very safe for children. The pool terrace is divided from the upper terrace by a secure, gated fence. There is a log burning fire and radiators for the winter and electric fans for the summer months. No pets please.
Outside
The villa is surrounded by a pretty garden of borders and flowering trees. Bourgenvillia creeps over walls and terraces. The views from the terrace are stunning and the villa is not overlooked by any other villas. The pool measures 10 x 5m and can be heated on request. There are 6 sunloungers and mattresses, umbrellas and a large table and 6 chairs. There are 2 BBQ areas with seating.
Coast/Beach
The nearest beach of Centianes is a 5 min walk away. Carvoeiro is a 5 min drive. There are lovely walks over the cliffs. There are a number of other fabulous sandy beaches and coves a short drive away, including Benagil, Albandeira, Marinha, Carvalho and Caneiros. The larger beaches of Armacao de Pera and Ferragudo are 15 mins drive away and offer a range of water sports.

Golf
We are situated near the 9 hole course at Vale do Milho but there are many other lovely courses nearby. Gramacho, Pinta, Palmares, Penina, Salgados and Boa Vista.
Special interest holidays
Tennis - there is a very friendly tennis club 10 minutes walk away at Rocha Brava where there is afternoon club tennis. You can also hire the courts morning and evening. Carvoeiro Tennis Club is 15 mins drive away. It is a very active club with many courts. Horse riding is available at the riding school nearby.
Travel
45 mins from Faro airport using the very direct new motorway. 2 hours from Lisbon airport. 15 mins drive to the local railway station of Tunes.
A car is recommended in order to make the most of the surrounding area.
The central position on the Algarve coast makes it an ideal location for touring.
Distances
Nearest village of Carvoeiro is a 5 min drive or 20 min walk. Nearest mini market is a 2 min drive or 10 walk to Rocha Brava. Intermarche supermarket is a 5 min drive. Portimao is nearest big town with boat trips and shopping centre - 20 min drive. Silves is an ancient Moorish capital with castle - 20 mins drive.
Further details
There are many good bars and restaurants to choose from in Carvoeiro and the surrounding district, and 5 within walking distance of the villa. Great nightlife can be found in nearby Albufueira. Zoomarine waterpark (20 mins drive) offers fantastic marine wildlife shows, outdoor picnic pool and a fair. You can also swim with dolphins - amazing experience! Slide & Splash (10 mins drive) is a multiple waterslide park - great fun for children & adults alike! If you enjoy shopping, Algarve Shopping is close by at Guia, or you can go to Portimao or Lagos. There are boat excursions from Portimao including a pirate ship, and cave/grotto trips from Benagil and Carveiro beaches. There are plenty of cashpoints in the area all taking an English debit card with the necessary charges.
Booking notes
A deposit of 20% is required on booking, with the balance payable 8 weeks before departure. Our property manager will visit you when you arrive and answer any questions you might have. She is also available to phone if you have any problems during your stay.

About the owner
Alex and I spend the winters at Casa Cristina and the summers in Oxfordshire. We love sitting on the terrace overlooking the pool and the fantastic views of the sea.
We have renovated all the rooms in the villa during the last three years. Alex swims every day in the sea, and I play tennis at the local club,or golf on the 9 hole course which lies behind. There are lovely walks over the cliffs and beautiful beaches to explore. We love going to the west coast where the scenery is so dramatic and up to the mountains at Monchique. We entertain all our friends on the large terrace where there is a barbecue and a pretty shaded bower.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We bought this property because of its quiet location and its beautiful views. We liked it because it isn't overlooked and is very private. You can walk to the beach or to local restaurants, or go into Carvoeiro in the evenings for a huge choice of restaurants and bars.
