Notes on accommodation
The villa and grounds are very child friendly with extensive gardens. The pool is within easy sight of the villa and is overlooked from the terrace. For winter lets there are heaters provided. Air conditioning is provided in the top floor bedroom only. We also provide hairdriers and travel plug adaptors in all bedrooms. The main bedroom on the first floor is also fitted with a safe.
Outside
Extensive L shaped private terrace with superb pool and sea views. The terrace has a large table and 6 chairs, parasol, BBQ and sun loungers. Large communal pool with extensive landscaped gardens for you to enjoy sunbathing by the pool.
Coast/Beach
Superb wide, safe and clean beaches are a speciality of this part of the Algarve. The nearest beach at Tavira and Cabanas are quaintly accessed by water-taxi/boat - well worth the experience!y Or by walking in Manta Rota, Praia Verde, Altura, Monte Gordo, Santa Luzia and Villa Real St.Antonio. A miniture train which can also be caught to take you to the beach in Santa Luzia (the children love this)!
Golf
Within 8km of the property can be found 5 splendid golf courses. Benamor Golf (18 holes), Quinta da Ria and Quinta do Cima (both 18 holes) and Colina Verde (9 holes), also the new magnificent Jack Nicklaus golf complex at Monte Rei. Please ask us about special discount golf fees.
Travel
Tavira is situated 35km east of Faro airport. We can arrange pickup by taxi or their is an excellent train or bus connection. Alternatively you can hire a car from a number of rental companies located at Faro airport which would give you greater freedom to explore. Car hire is recommended but not essential for our location. A visit to the Spanish border by car is only approx 25 mins by car and Seville can be reached in a little over an hour from the border.
Distances
Historic Tavira is within walking distance of the property. Tavira is often called the prettiest town on the Algarve. You are 15km to charming fishermens towns of Olhao and Fuzeta, the nature reserve Ria Formosa is within 8km and unspoilt villages such as Santa Luzia, Cabanas and Cacela Velha are all within a few kms. The Spanish border is within 30 mins by car and Seville is not much more than an hour from the border by car.
Further details
Tavira has a long histrory where time seems to have stood still. There are many intimate restaurants/bars to explore as you stroll along the cobbled streets and waterfront. It also has an excellent array of shops and a marvellous fresh daily market for vegatables,fruit and fish. There are also regional and flee markets. You can explore Tavira by miniature train or by horse drawn carriage. Guided tours are available in this historic town which has in excess of 35 churches, museums and fortified remains. Watersports can be found on the main beaches of Tavira in the summer.
Tennis can also be played at a local hotel only five minutes from the villa, where you can alos hire equipment. Horse riding is situated 10 minutes by car from the villa and all details of how to book can be found in the villa.

About the owner
We are just an ordinary, professional, middle-England family living in Retford, Nottinghamshire very close to Robin Hood and his famous Sherwood Forest. Garry has just turned 50, works as a self employed consultant to the retail motor trade, a business he has been in since 1979. Beverley is a company secretary/accountant for a small computer networking company in Newark. It is a little 'outrageous' to share Bev's age here, but she is aged between 35 and 50 (she regularly tells us!). Harry has just gone off to Leeds University to study architecture after completing his A Levels. We all love Portugal and are very proud of our villa - we hope that all our many guests, some regular clients returning year after year, love the villa and Tavira as much as we do!

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We had been holidaying in the Algarve (normally the West like most folks) for the previous 10 years and we just kept coming back to Portugal, because it felt like our 'home from home!' We loved the place, the people, the climate, the food, the golf, the beaches and the whole thing so much, we thought 'why don't we try and buy our own place in the Algarve?' We hooked up with some Estate Agents in the Eastern Algarve, and the brochure we liked the best right from the start turned out to be our villa - the one you're looking at now! We absolutely loved Tavira and Alto do Perogil locations as soon as we arrived here. It's a bit of 'Older' Portugal than the Western Algarve - a bit slower paced. Our villa is great for family holidays and Golfers, Walkers alike. Come and see!
Unique benefits of the property
We're only 20 minutes from Faro Airport. Our Villa sits at the top of one of the highest points in Tavira - looking down on the town, seaside and hills to the rear. The views are stunning, and eating lunch or BBQ dinner on the 1st Floor Terrace is not to be missed! The Pool is larger than on most complexes. The grounds are especially lovely and 'pitching' for a day in the sun is such a wonderful pleasure here. We are literally only a few paces from the pool, and we do pride ourselves on providing the best available Sun Loungers for our guests. Walking into Tavira of an evening is all downhill and a very pleasant tree-lined walk - the Bistro restaurants are excellent and so our advice would be - take a taxi back up that hill - it's great value at only 3-4 Euros!
