Tavira Garden is regarded as the premier complex of the unspoilt Eastern Algarve. The buildings are set in extensive well-kept mature gardens on this quiet complex. Facilities include 2 large pools with sun loungers and shade if required, 2 children’s pools adjoining the large pools, poolside bar, children’s play area, tennis court, well equipped gym, BBQ area. There is a restaurant/bar with inside and outside dining, a reception office (open Monday to Friday, English spoken), and ample safe parking on the complex. Tavira Garden is situated in the northern part of Tavira, an elegant and unspoilt historic town, still an active fishing port and with superb huge sandy beaches. With its maze of narrow cobbled streets, pastel-coloured houses, numerous churches, Roman bridge and medieval castle, exploring is sheer delight. There are dozens of delightful restaurants and cafes offering cheap high quality food, many situated along the palm lined River Gilão which runs through the town.

Prices are for property per week in pounds and include all bedlinen, bathroom towels and kitchen towels.

A mid stay lined change is available for an extra cost.

Long term winter rental is available at £180.00 per week.

Changeover day
Arrival & departure days - totally flexible. Part weeks are charged pro-rata the weekly rate. Possibly access may not be given until 5pm on day of arrival & we may ask clients to vacate by 10am on departure, but only if required for changeover purposes.

Bedrooms: 2 good size bedrooms, both with new twin beds, air-conditioning and heaters. Master bedroom has large fitted wardrobes, other modern furniture. Second bedroom has free standing wardrobe, other modern furniture.
Tow Double sofa beds in lounge.
Bathrooms: Large bathroom with a new walk in shower, tiled to all walls, wc, basin,wall heater and extraction.
Kitchen: Fully equipped: fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, full size electric cooker (oven and 4 ring hob), extractor fan over, microwave, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, iron/ironing board, double sink, all equipment, crockery, etc. Window to balcony.
Living Rooms: Spacious lounge/dining room with air conditioning, heater, TV with lots of UK stations, DVD player, radio/CD/cassette player. Furniture includes 2 double leather sofa beds, oak dining table seating 6. Large windows, double doors to balcony.
Other: Good sized balcony with table and chairs, accessed from lounge/dining room. The balcony overlooks a secluded and pretty garden area - pick your own lemons from the tree next to the balcony! NB: safety - there are NO gas installations in this building.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
The apartment is looked after by Darren and Claire who meet and greet and ensure the apartment is cleaned to a high standard prior to guests' arrival and after departure. Rental prices include all bed linen, bathroom towels and kitchen towels.

Notes on accommodation
This apartment is on the ground floor. If air conditioning is required - decide when you arrive - the cost is 4 euros per day. There is a security safe (free-of-charge), hair dryer, fire extinguisher, fire blanket, smoke alarms, selection of books, information folder. Facilities in Tavira Garden's laundry, including tumble dryer, may be used for a small charge. We regret that pets are not accepted. We ask guests to smoke only in the outside areas and not inside. Good quality pool/beach towels are available for hire cost 2 Euros per towel per stay. Baby’s travel cot available at prior request cost 15 Euros per week. Internet facilities are available in the restaurant. There is a small charge for use of the gym and the tennis court on the complex. The Tavira Garden gym and restaurant may sometimes have limited opening out of high season.

Accessibility
This apartment is on the ground floor and is suitable for people with difficulty climbing stairs; also very suitable for families with young children.

Outside
Good size balcony with table and chairs, overlooking a secluded and pleasant garden area with a mature lemon tree very near the balcony.
Access to roof terrace shared with other occupiers of this building (but hardly ever used by anyone else!) with stunning views to the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve and the sea.
The beautiful mature garden areas, swimming pools, and all other facilities at Tavira Garden may be used by all guests.

Coast/Beach
The coast of Tavira is located within the Ria Formosa National Park. The clean uncrowded sandy Isla de Tavira beach is one of the largest and best beaches in the Algarve, with EC Blue Flag status, and can be reached by a charming short ferry trip from Tavira town or by a little journey on the holiday train at Barril. There are also many other enormous clean sandy mainland beaches all along the coast, as far as the Spanish border to the east or Faro to the west, none of which is ever overcrowded.

Golf
Four top quality golf courses are within easy reach; the nearest, Benamor, is just 4km away. Quinta da Cima and Quinta de Ria are a 5 minute drive from the apartment - Cima was voted the best course on the Algarve in 2004. On the Portuguese border you will find the Castro Marim course with excellent views of the countryside, sea and Spain. Lots of other courses in the western Algarve and western Spain are within one hour's drive. Tavira Garden is just 15 minutes drive from the new Jack Nicklaus Monte Rei golf complex - first 18 holes opened in 2007.

Price discounts at most local golf courses can be obtained with a Tavira Garden card, which should be requested before arrival. Golf club rental is available, including trolley.

Special interest holidays
Private boat trips can be organised, completely tailor-made to suit your own requirements. Boat takes up to 7 people. For example - bird watching in the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve; fishing; exploring the coast, Tavira Island, the River Gilão through Tavira town and the Ria Formosa. Why not visit one of the deserted beaches along this part of the coast, or take a boat trip to pretty Santa Luzia village for a leisurely fish lunch in one of the cheap little restaurants overlooking the sea?

Travel
Faro Airport is approximately 35km away. We can organise airport transfers for you with a local high quality taxi firm at a discounted price. Car hire can be arranged with a local company, to collect at Faro Airport if required at no extra charge - but a car is definitely not essential for the enjoyment of your holiday. Bicycle hire is available in the town. Local buses and trains cover a wide area. Buses from Tavira bus garage go far afield including to Seville and other Spanish destinations.

Distances
The unspoiled coastal villages of Santa Luzia, Cabanas, Cacela Velha and Fuzeta are all a 5-10 min drive away (also reached by bus or train) - all with huge clean sandy beaches which are never over-crowded even in summer. The beautiful hills and villages of the Serra do Caldeirão are just a few km north. The Spanish border is approx 30km east, where the border castles, delightful old villages and broad River Guadiana are well worth exploring.

Further details
The nearest supermarket is approx 100 metres away (open 7 days per week 9am-9pm). The nearest bakers, cafés, post office, newsagent, chemist, other small shops and cash point are approx 700 metres away. There is a large daily market in the town, selling delicious local produce, fruit/vegetables, meat and fish.

It's just a short walk from Tavira Garden to the delightful old town areas, harbour, fishing port and Roman Bridge. Stroll round the maze of cobbled streets and alleyways in Tavira to search out the little shops, restaurants and bars. This beautiful and historic part of the Algarve has not been discovered by many tourists, and is untouched by any 'yob culture'.

Internet facilities are available in the Tavira Garden restaurant, also at several places in town, and the old covered market is a WiFi zone. There is a Tourist Information office in town near the medieval castle.

Bookings more than 8 weeks prior to arrival; 30% deposit required at time of booking, remainder 8 weeks before arrival. Bookings less than 8 weeks prior to arrival; 100% payable at time of booking. Cancellation policy: in case of cancellation the 30% deposit is non-refundable. Of the remaining 70% we will reimburse as much as we recoup in any replacement booking. Bookings may be liable to cancellation if payments are not prompt. We recommend all clients to take out holiday insurance.

About the owner
Myself and my wife Sue live in Swindon Wiltshire, I am a retired Company Director who now helps growing companies to expand and keep them on the right tracks. My wife Sue is a Chartered Accountant and runs her practice from our home. We have two children who are now in thier early twenties.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We bought our apartment some 16 years ago so that we could enjoy family holidays whilst our children were growing up as it is such a safe enviroment. The complex is ideal as it has a great bar and restuarant on site, and three swimming pools. The area of Tavira is one of the nicest areas of Portugal. Even though it has expanded there are still authentic Portugese bars etc, and the area by the harbour and old fish market is a lovely place

Unique benefits of the property
We recently invested 20,000 euros on our Apartment and completely refitted all fixtures and fittings. With the apartment being on the ground floor it offers peace of mind for those with young children. Our apartment overlooks the childrens play area and it is lovely sitting on the balcony with a beer whilst the children play in the playground
