Casa Tigina nestles on a vantage point of a Eucalyptus-wooded series of south-facing mountainside terraces a few hundred feet below the Foia summit. All the accommodation, including the bedrooms, open onto spacious, variously covered and uncovered sun terraces, that on the ground floor extending to poolside and outside dining areas, pool-changing and showering facilities and herbaceous borders. All areas accordingly benefit from the same, stunning view over the Monchique foothills, down to a broad expanse of the Algarve and the sea beyond, this perhaps being Tigina's most outstanding feature. Interior appointments are scarcely less impressive in this individually designed and built villa, with extensive use of hardwoods, marble, tiling and quality fixtures and furnishing throughout. It affords spacious, modern and truly 5-star holiday accommodation. Several excellent restaurants are within walking distance and the character market town of Monchique is just 4kms drive away.

All prices are in UK pounds, per week. Where a booking crosses two (or more) price bands, the rent payable is calculated pro rata, on a daily basis. Special rates for long winter lets (min. 6 weeks' duration) by negotiation.

Kitchen: Electric oven, dual fuel hob, fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher.
Utility Room: Washing machine, utility sink.
Living Rooms: Lounge suite with quadruple sofa and two armchairs, plus two leather recliners, thus affording lounge seating for 8.
Satellite TV, DVD player, CD based audiophile Hi-Fi system.
Dining room with mahogany formal dining suite and dresser.
Other: Reception hall with hardwood staircase leading to galleried landing.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
Maid service included, 3 hours daily, save weekends and bank holidays. All linen and towels (except beach towels) are provided. English-speaking, full local management to deal with any problems. Linen changed weekly.

 

Notes on accommodation
Tigina is particularly adaptable to winter lets, with gas central heating and an open fire in the lounge (wood supplied). As with any villa with a private pool, the poolside area is only suitable for young children if they remain under adult supervision at all times.

Outside
Tigina is approached on a private drive through landscaped grounds set with shrubs and mature trees. The fully enclosed and secluded pool terrace is bordered by decorative plants and is equipped with plenty of sun loungers, drinks tables etc. The outside dining area has a white UPVC dining suite and houses a wheeled BBQ when not in use. The delightful, private swimming pool measures 7.5x4m and enjoys the same southerly aspect and views.

Coast/Beach
The beaches to the south, with their warm seas and gentle surf, are 30 mins away by car, whilst those to the west are reached by a 40 min drive, through an area of outstanding natural beauty / National Park.

Golf
The new, 7000 yrd course at Golfe do Morgado is 20 minutes drive away and the famous courses of Penina and Palmares can be reached in 30 mins.

Travel
Faro airport - 1 hour's drive. Car hire is essential.

Monchique - 5 mins (4km).

Further details
The Monchique locality is an area famed for its gastronomy, with numerous restaurants between them catering for a wide range of tastes and appetites. Some of the best establishments discreetly punctuate the route out from Monchique towards Tigina and the Foia summit. All represent excellent value for money. The restaurant closest to Tigina (within walking distance at 400m away) is renowned for the best chicken 'piri-piri' on the Algarve, yet remains surprisingly inexpensive. Monchique has a produce market daily and bigger affairs, extending to local handicrafts, on a regular basis. There are banks, several mini-markets and numerous cafe-bars, especially around the attractive main square, complete with water feature and wizened old folk congregating to pass the time of day. Whilst every other front parlour seems to open out into emporia selling everything from wooden, beaten copper, or pottery handicrafts to christening gowns, Monchique never seems very commercialised or overly 'touristy'.

Booking notes
A 50% reservation deposit is required at the time of booking. 90% of the reservation deposit is refundable upon cancellation of the reservation by the client no later than 8 weeks prior to the rental commencement date. The full balance is payable no later than 8 weeks prior to the rental commencement date. If the full balance remains unpaid 8 weeks prior to the rental commencement date, the owners reserve the right to cancel the booking and, in this event, the deposit will be forfeited.
