Casa Castanha is a rural property close to the historic riverside town of Tavira and the beautiful sandy beaches of the Eastern Algarve. The 2 bedroom villa and 2 bedroom bungalow have their own patio areas in a pretty courtyard setting surrounding the 10x4m swimming pool. The location is a popular holiday destination for golfers, walkers, sun worshippers and anyone wishing to find a place to relax and unwind far from the madding crowds.

Notes on prices
Special offer 10% reduction September and October.
Prices are for each property per week in UK Pounds. Short breaks and long lets available. Logs for the fire are charged at 5 euros per sack. Washing machine is available 5 euros per wash.

Changeover day
Changeover day for both the villa and bungalow are flexible.

Accommodation

 

 

Notes on accommodation
The villa and bungalow can be hired together to accommodate larger groups. Linen and bath towels are provided and changed weekly. Please bring your own beach/pool towels. Electric radiators are provided for winter heating. Washing machine available at local charge. We also have our own property within the grounds so we are on hand to give advice on places to visit, local restaurants, car hire, etc and help with any little emergencies that may occur during your stay. We have 2 friendly dogs but would prefer that you left your pets at home.

Accessibility
Although not designed specifically for wheelchair use both properties have easy access for partially disabled people. There are only a few steps to negotiate and no difficult staircases to deal with.

Outside
The villa and bungalow are situated within 2 acres of land with a variety of fruit trees and views of the surrounding hillside. The property is away from the main road and fully fenced and gated with plenty of car parking space. The 10m x 4m swimming pool is shared by the villa and the bungalow only. There are sun terraces and gardens for sunbathing with plenty of patio furniture but also shady areas for those really hot days. Each property has its own brick built BBQ for al fresco dining on warm summer evenings.

Coast/Beach
The beaches and coastline of the area form part of the Ria Formosa, a nature reserve that includes a series of lagoons and islands rich in bird and plant life. On the seaward side of these islands are long stretches of lovely sandy beaches. The nearest beach is Barril near St Luzia which is a 5 minute drive away; the beach which is at one end of the Ilha Tavira can be reached by a small train or a walk across the Ria Formosa.

Golf
Benamor Golf Club is a 10 min drive away and Quinta de Ria, Quinta de Cima, Castro Marim, Quinto da Vale and the new Monte Rei are all within 20 to 30 minute drive. Good discounts can be arranged through local agent and we also have a few spare sets of clubs if you want to leave yours at home.

Travel
Faro Airport is approx a 30 mins drive. Car hire is essential to enable easy access into Tavira and the local beaches and also to appreciate the Algarve area at its best. Airport pick ups and taxis can be arranged at local rates. We can also arrange car hire on your behalf with a local firm, please ask for further details. Seville airport is 90 minute drive approx.

Nearest shop and bar: 50 metres. Nearest beach: 5km. Nearest village with restaurant: St Estevao 1.5km. Nearest town: Tavira 5km. Nearest airport: Faro 35km. Vila Real and Spanish border 35km.

Further details
There is a small bar and shop (closed Sundays/Bank holidays) just across the road for daily provisions and the village of St Estevao which has a restaurant, a few bars, post office (with cash machine), shop and pharmacy is 1.5km away. Tavira, 5km away has a wide variety of shops, bars and restaurants, banks and a post office plus daily fruit and veg market and larger supermarkets. We can arrange golf at discounted prices including transport to and from the course and also walks in the Algarve countryside with a local guide.

25% secures booking, balance due 10 weeks before arrival.
Payment in full if booking less than 10 weeks prior to arrival. £100 breakage deposit payable on arrival. Prices shown are for 1 week but short breaks and longer stays are available and charged on a pro rata basis. Long lets are available please ask for details.

Guest comments
Situation of the house was great with easy access to the main road to get to a number of fabulous beaches and most parts of the Algarve. Good location away from the hustle and bustle. Owners were very friendly and helpful but not instrusive. The house has plenty of room and storage and all essential equipment. Great holiday, we will be back.

The property is in a very quiet position but only 5 minutes from Tavira. e found eating out to be very cheap and everyone, including the owners of the property, very friendly. The villa was very comfortable, spacious and clean. I would definately recommend it and would like to return.

Another great holiday at Casa Castanha - actually our 6th. Thanks for another great year, hot sun, excellent accommodation, great BBQ and helpful hosts and best of all the pets Ben and Sue.
