Beautiful villa in the lovely family resort, Praia da Luz.A traditional property with loads of character and space but with the advantage of having been fully modernised to a very high standard. It has the luxury of being only a 20 mins walk or 2 mins drive from the beach, most shops and restaurants. However, it still retains a very high degree of privacy being positioned in a 'no-through' road in a residential area. The villa and heated pool have fabulous sea views. Next to the pool is a large covered BBQ, dining area which stays wonderfully cool in the heat of the day. Praia da Luz is a lovely family orientated resort towards the quieter western end of the Algarve coast. It has numerous restaurants, bars and shops. The larger town of Lagos is only 10 mins drive away. This has a cosmopolitan nightlife, lovely marina, loads more restaurants, shops and several sandy beaches. Casa Crisdell is so close to many amenities, car hire is not essential but with children or elderly recommended.

Pool heating is available at £100 per week and £60 for a pre heat week (where available)and air conditioning at £60 per week. Deposit of 25% required with booking. Payment due 8 weeks before departure.
Security deposit of £350 required on arrival.

Notes on accommodation
Cots, Z beds and high chairs can be rented for a small suppliment and there is an additional charge for pool heating and air conditioning/heating. We also have available for families with children a Tomy monitor, microwave steraliser and a (cheap basic!) buggy - please just ask when booking. The outdoor barbecue area is fully equipped with sink, water and outside fridge. We have provided a number of books and board games, please feel free to use but please replace or return so that future guests can also enjoy them. Please do not forget to take your own PS2 games, CDs and DVDs.
Accessibility
Our villa is a 20 minute walk to the town and we have some guests who walk to the town every morning for fresh crossiants! It is maybe 20 - 25 minutes with young children and the walk back may be too far for some elderly guests. It is uphill for a large part of the return although not terribly steep.
Outside
The villa is situated in a large plot. There are several terrace areas both under shade and in the sun with at least 4 large tables each easily seating 10+ people. Several good quality sun loungers and parasols are also included. The large pool can be heated and has steps suitable for smaller children.
We have a grass area, herbs in the garden for using in cooking and a large secure off road area which will park 3 -4 cars easily.
Coast/Beach
Praia Da Luz beach is a 20 mins walk or 2 mins car ride away. The beach is long and sandy with a rock pool area which is fun for children and is backed by a beautiful palm tree lined promenade. It has numerous restaurants, bars and shops. Burgau beach is a 5 mins drive.
Golf
The Algarve is famous for its fabulous golf courses and the closest are Boavista and Parque da floresta which are both a 5 minute drive.
Travel
Faro is the closest airport - 45 mins drive.
Distances
Praia Da Luz centre is walkable in 20 mins and there is a nice supermarket in the town. Larger supermarkets can be found in Lagos a 10 mins drive away. There are numerous places of interest in the area including Sagres Castle, Lagos, Monchinique and activities including horse riding, water sports etc.
Further details
A welcome food essentials pack can be arranged for your arrival and babysitting can be arranged locally. The local supermarket does free deliveries so if you have decided not to hire a car you can get your groceries delivered.
Booking notes
All bookings require a 25% deposit and full payment 8 weeks before arrival. A £300 security deposit is also required.
Our changeover day from 2012 is Thursday (out of peak season other days may be possible, please ask)

House swap
We would consider similar sized chalet in child friendly ski resort as a house swap - min 5 bed/3 bathrooms and within easy walking to ski school/nursery and lifts.

My husband and I live near Oxford and have 2 daughters aged 3 and 8 and a selection of ducks, ponies and cats! We have been holidaying in the Algarve for quite a few years now.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We had been on holiday a few times to Luz and fell in love with the weather, relaxed family atmosphere and beautiful beach which the kids just love. There are amazing rock pools as well as the lovely sandy beach and plenty of other beaches to explore in the area. The food is great and so fresh and there are lots of local restaurants that we love to go to. My husband especially loves the golf and plays whenever we are out and also goes out for golfing weekends with his friends - there are several golf courses within really easy reach. Also the locals are so friendly and welcoming.
Unique benefits of the property
Well the pool is probably the thing the children would say they love the most. It is a lovely size with steps into it so they can play safely even when tiny and it can be heated which means they never want to get out. It is also beautifully private and with lovely sea views and the loungers and BBQ area are right there so it is just so easy. I would say I love the pool fridge for the sangria! Our villa is in a lovely private and quiet spot but still close to all the amenities that Luz has to offer, there is even a bar with WIFI literally 1 minute walk away!
