Comfortable Villa close to beautiful sandy beach and amenities. 3 double bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, air conditioning; 2 mins walk to restaurants, bars, boutiques and 5 Star Dona Filipa Hotel. The villa is well equipped, maintained and furnished to a high standard. Outside - small secluded garden, upper/lower terraces, sheltered breakfast area.
Guests have free temporary membership of the Barrington Club with adults' indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna, etc.childrens' and adults' outdoor pools, beauty spa, hairdressers, gym (personal trainers in residence),squash, driving range, putting green, bar, restaurant, free internet access (with user's own laptop). Barringtons offer discounts on tennis court hire and coaching at the nearby Vale do Lobo Tennis Centre & discounts on green fees at several local courses. Guests are welcome to join the regular health and fitness classes for a nominal charge. No need to buy beach toys for the children, we have quite a collection in our garden store room.

Bedroom 2 Twin beds, opens onto small terrace overlooking sea,en-suite. Air cond.
Bedroom 3 Twin beds ground floor, bathroom adjoining, air/con.
Bathrooms: Bathroom 1 - En-suite to bedroom 1 with bath/shower over, bidet, WC and hand basin, heated towel rail. Wall mounted hot air heater.
Bathroom 2 - En-suite to bedroom 2 equipped as bathroom 1.
Bathroom 3 - Adjoining bedroom 3 equipped as bathrooms 1 & 2.
Kitchen: Gas hob, electric oven, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave oven, granite work surfaces, tiled walls and floor, stainless steel sink, mixer tap and drainer, electric hand blender, copious cupboards. Generously equipped.
Living Rooms: Spacious and comfortably furnished lounge. Doors to terrace, sun beds & barbecue area. The dining area is on a raised level, with patio doors to internal breakfast/pot garden. Sky satellite TV with comprehensive menu, log burning fire. Air conditioning.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
Linen and towels are changed weekly. Bedding for the baby's cot is provided when required. Maid service is for 2 hours Monday to Friday, one hour Saturdays, except on public holidays. 6 beach towels are provided.

 

Notes on accommodation
The roof terrace is protected by a low fence and gates at either end of the external steps, for the safety of small children. The garden is securely gated. Internal stair gates, cot and highchair are available, at no extra charge, but should be requested in advance.
There are buckets and spades and other beach toys in abundance in the garden store cupboard!
The villa is extremely close to the beach making it particularly attractive to families.
There is a useful childrens activity centre - The Penquin Pool, a short distance away, next to the crazy golf. It has swings and other playground toys, cars, trikes (with a circuit track) sand and a toddlers' pool. It offers an alternative to the beach and a pleasant spot for parents to sit and watch and have a coffee! It is also possible to leave children in the care of the child minders on site, if required.
Reliable and trustworthy Baby sitters for the villa can be arranged on request.

Accessibility
The house is not suitable for wheel chair users as it is built on a hill. The car parking area and entrance hall, a twin-bedded room with adjoining bathroom are all on the same level. There are three marble steps down from the entrance hall to the kitchen and dining area and small internal garden. There are four marble steps, to the sitting room area and patio and garden level. The other 2 bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms are upstairs, each with its own short flight of stairs.

Outside
Two main terraces, upper and lower are furnished with sun loungers, parasols and full size tables and chairs. The ground floor patio boasts a mature and beautiful pineapple palm tree which offers welcome shade on very hot days. 2 small secluded patios - one an enclosed colourfully planted 'pot' garden - cool and inviting, leads from the dining area, the other off bedroom 2. Both have a small table and chairs. The secluded garden, hedged with oleander, and with gate leading to beach, is attractively laid out with lawn, flower beds and planted pots.

Coast/Beach
Overlooking sea, 65 metres from beautiful sandy beach, with coconut roofed sun shelters, sunbeds, pedalos, cafes, restaurants; the resort has crazy golf, large and small pools/toddlers' play area with child minding facilities minutes walk away. 10 mins drive to the beautiful lake at Quinta do Lago. Sailing dinghies, pedal boats, etc for hire; swimming pool, sandy area with swings and slides for small children; cafe, bar and restaurant. Short drive to many distinctive Algarve beaches.

Golf
It is advisable to reserve a tee time at the local golf courses as the level of activity varies. Vale do Lobo has two x 18 hole championship courses which have hosted the Portuguese Open. Both courses are challenging and beautiful. Pineiros Altos, S.Antonio and Quinta do Lago courses are the next closest and lovely to play. Discounted golf may be booked through The Barrington Club on these and several other superb courses some within easy reach, others further afield. There is an interesting 9-hole, par 3 course at the Balaia Resort along the coast beyond Vilamoura. A good opportunity for beginners without handicapp and sufficiently varied to keep the more experienced player interested. All the courses have very nice Club Houses and facilities and generally serve good food.

Special interest holidays
Vale do Lobo's well known Tennis Academy is 4 mins car drive, 12 minutes walk away. There are 14 good courts, one to one coaching, group lessons for adults and children according to ability and short tennis for smaller children. They run weekly courses and competitions usually finishing with prize giving and a barbecue. There is a good outdoor swimming pool, bar, restaurant and gym etc, discounted through Barrington's. There are other tennis courts for hire on the road into Vale do Lobo from Almansil just beforfe Villas and Vacations, also at Quinta do Lago. Coaching is available also.

Travel
20 mins from Faro International Airport. Car hire recommended. Details on request of reliable and competitively priced car hire company which conveniently keeps cars at airport car park.
There are direct trains from Loule station to Lisbon and other destinations.

Distances
The Praca at Vale do Lobo has a cash point, restaurants, cafes, paper shop, boutiques and is 3 mins walk. Vale do Lobo Reception - about 8 minutes walk - has more shops, a cafe, post office counter (in newsagent's) Health and Beauty Spa, Bank, Hairdresser, etc. Light meals are served all day in the Golf Club. Almancil, the nearest small town has many more shops and supermarkets. About 12 minutes drive. Loule, about 25 minutes drive is a typically bustling Algarvean Market Town, worth a visit.

Further details
A great feature of the Algarve are the many beach restaurants offering fish and sea food freshly caught and delicious. The local chicken is another favourite and always available, and of course the sardines in season are not to be missed. One can either walk along the Vale do Lobo beach in either direction for about 20/25 minutes to find one, or drive a more roundabout route.
There are many historic and beautiful places to visit in the area. For example, an hour's drive away, the historic town of Lagos to the West from where it is said Vasco da Gama set sail on his amazing voyages and founded his school of Navigation. Cap S.Vincent, the most westerly point of Europe and its lighthouse is certainly worth a call if you have ventured that far West. On the way, for lovers of hand painted pottery, a visit to the famous Porches pottery is a delight.
There are many varied, rocky and beautiful beaches along the coast where one can hire a boat and boatman for a tour of the caves or fishing trips. In contrast, the mountains are not far away and the lovely little mountain villages are good to visit for a simple and inexpensive lunch.
There is now a multi-screen cinema in the Faro Shopping precint in Faro where one can catch movies released around the same time as in the UK, sometimes sooner. For music lovers there are often pop concerts to find, and there is a fairly recently founded Algarve Symphony Orchestra travelling around to different venues in the Algarve and giving concerts.
There is a free local paper easily come across which lists all the current attractions and programmes. There is never a reason to be bored in the Algarve.
