This beautiful property sits on the top of a hill on one hectare of land with wide sweeping south facing views of the local countryside and the sea. It is approached up a private 200m track which affords it total seclusion. The garden is mainly gravel with flower beds of prolific oleander, hibiscus, lavender, almond and carob trees. Shade is provided on the south and east facing terraces with deep verandas - perfect for al fresco dining and there is a totally private roof terrace for sun worshippers. The pool is 10m and salt water and has a covered barbeque area/pool house and outside shower. The property itself is full of character and would be best described as rustic/chic but with every modern amenity. Santa Caterina tiles on the floors, cane and pole ceilings but white double glazed French doors to almost every room. Two bedrooms are in the main body of the house and the third one has a separate entrance, en-suite bathroom, mini galley kitchen and private terrace.

Approximately 7km to beach. At Pedras del Rey - Barill Beach. 5km to unspoilt Ria Formosa small beach and swimming at high tide.
Golf
Golf is available at 4 local courses. Benamor is the nearest 10 minutes away, Quinta da Ria with 2 eighteen hole courses 5 minutes further and Castro Marim 30 minutes away on the Spanish border. All are interesting courses and offer special deals for green fees.
Travel
Faro airport 35 minutes away approximately 40km - via motorway. Car hire is essential.
Further details
Casa das Cicadas is 2km inland from the village of Santo Estevao which has a post office, 2 shops, coffee bars, a pharmacy, cash point and a magnificent church. It is a rural village where donkeys can still be found tied up outside the shops. Food is served in 1 of the bars. There are also 2 little bars in the nearby hamlet of Butoque and another 2 on the road to Luz de Tavira. Tavira itself is
10 minutes by car and it has numerous restaurants to suit every pocket. The river in Tavira forms the focal point of the town which has remained totally unspoilt and offering magnificent architecture. There are 2 major supermarkets, laundrettes, 4 indoor swimming pools and tennis courts. Inexpensive public transport is available to take you to the beach area on the lla da Tavira.
