Notes on accommodation
This is a no smoking property. There is air-conditioning throughout at no extra charge. There is a safe for added security. There are a cot and a highchair at the property permanently. We have 4 children aged 8, 6, 1 and newborn so have tried to make the villa as child friendly as possible.

Accessibility
The property is all on one level (there are steps to the roof terrace, but these are outside).

Outside
Private pool, for sole use of guests is approx 10m x 4m with stepped access. The pool can be heated at an additional cost. The plot is 1,100 sq.m, and provides gardens all around the property. There is outdoor furniture, BBQ furniture and sunbeds by the pool. Automatic gates ensure that the property is secure (and small children can not escape!). From the roof terrace there are enhanced views over the 1st fairway of the Royal Golf Course. The rear garden has a gate between it and the pool area, and so can be made safe so that children can not access the pool but still play outside. There is a small slide and other children's toys in the rear garden for guests to use.

Coast/Beach
5 mins walk to Vale do Lobo beach, this is a beautiful sandy beach where parasols and sun beds can be rented. There are also a selection of bars and restaurants for lunchtime snacks. There is car parking near the beach should you need to drive (children + beach = lots to take!!). Other beaches are easily accessible by short car journey.

Golf
The internationally renowned Royal and Ocean Golf courses are 2 minutes away. Many other golf courses are within easy reach, eg Quinta do Lago, Vilasol, Pinheiros Altos, Vilamoura.

Special interest holidays
The Vale do Lobo Tennis Academy has 14 courts, of which ten are all-weather and four synthetic, as well as a mini-tennis and paddle tennis court. One of the largest tennis facilities in Portugal, it attracts national and international tennis fixtures, including an annual ATP Seniors Tour competition, the Vale do Lobo Grand Champions, and the Portuguese Ladies´ Open. A gym, swimming pool, pro shop and two restaurants overlooking the courts complete the facilities. The Tennis Academy runs a busy year-round programme of individual and group coaching, tournaments and social events, for members and holidaymakers.
Pinetrees Horse Riding is a short drive away and provides horse riding for riders of all levels from the age of 4 upwards.

Travel
Faro airport is 20 mins drive away. Car hire recommended, although not essential.

Distances
Everything you need including beach, restaurants, golf courses, tennis courts, bank, supermarket, newsagent, health club are available on site in Vale do Lobo - so you may not want to leave during your stay! However, Almancil and Loule are both 5 - 10 mins drive. Vilamoura - with it's large marina is about 15 mins drive.

Further details
There are banking and post office facilities on VdL. The Royal Spa is a 2 minute walk of the villa with a wide range of treatments available (perfect for 'golf widows'!) The Praca has a selection of fantastic restaurants - and can cater for most tastes - from beach snacks through to Michelin starred quality meals. During the summer months there is live music at the Praca every evening. It is well worth booking restaurants in advance during peak season. There is also a newsagents which sells English newspapers and other holiday requirements (we have bought armbands there many times when we have forgotten ours!) There is a children's club and a mini-golf course, both payable locally. There are lots of things to explore right along the Algarve in particular our children love Zoomarine - a water park / animal park about 40 mins drive away. This has various shows to watch, animals to look at, a swimming area and for an extra cost - you can even swim with dolphins! The Aquashow water park, only 5 minutes drive away, is an excellent day out for all ages. Horse riding and watersports available locally. Baby sitting service can be arranged if booked at least 24 hours in advance - payable locally.

Booking notes
10% deposit payable to secure booking. Balance due 6 weeks before holiday, along with £200 security deposit. This will be returned within 14 days of the end of the booking assuming there are no breakages, and that there is no evidence of smoking or pets in the villa. Breakage and additional cleaning costs will be deducted from the deposit if required.

'Thank you for the use of your wonderful villa last week. We all had a fantastic time and the location of the villa was perfect in relation to the resort. Our daughter needed an eviction notice to remove her from the pool and the Sky TV was a real benefit when she wanted to get out of the sun for a few hours in the hot afternoons. I am sure we will be re-booking and next time it will be for two weeks' - August/September 2007.

About the owner
We are a family with 4 young children (aged 8, 6, 1and newborn) who bought a property in the Algarve as we enjoyed holidaying there and found it a perfect place to visit when the children were babies - and continue to do so. We enjoy getting away from it all on holiday - relaxing by the pool or on the beach, having friends round for a barbecue (with trips to the recycling centre the next day to dispose of the evidence!) and knowing that most days you are going to see sunshine. We try to get out to Vale do Lobo a few times a year - and one day may even make the move permanent!

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We chose to buy in Vale do Lobo because it is a fabulous resort with great amenities but still has a 'heart'. The villa is walking distance to the beach, restaurants, spa and golf courses - and all within a matter of minutes. The fact that it is only a 15 minute drive from Faro airport makes it easily accessible (as our daughter pointed out when it took us longer to drive to Cornwall than it does door to door to VDL!)

Unique benefits of the property
As we have young children (now aged 8, 6, 1 & newborn) we have tried to make the property child friendly - for example we fitted a lockable gate between the rear garden and the pool area, so the children could safely play in the back garden without fear of them falling into the pool. We also leave various toys, games and books around - so that means less for guests to have to pack! The fact that everywhere is walkable from the villa means no negotiations of who is going to drive when you go out for dinner in the evening! Having stayed in some 'dodgy' rental villas in other parts of Europe, we have tried to make the house as 'home from home' as possible. It is decorated in a simple, modern style (not loads of ornaments for guests to worry about!) but with all the necessities.
