Villa Boa Vista is an Algarvian farmhouse set in the unspoilt Eastern Algarve. Built in 1850, set in 6 acres with private approach road, it has been totally renovated in such a way as to retain its original charm. With panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and of the local fishing port of Olhao to the front and of the Eastern Algarve's highest peak, San Miguel to the rear, the villa comprises one double bedroom, one twin bedroom with doors leading onto a roof terrace, and a large hallway containing two stacking beds. There is a small sitting room with wood stove in inglenook, large dining room and kitchen. A shaded vine covered, out door dining and barbecue area leads from the kitchen to the private 10m x 5m pool. Faro can be reached in 30 minutes and to the east, the Spanish border is equally close. Privacy is the essential characteristic of Boa Vista. It is possible to get away from it all and relax completely.

Living Rooms: Large dining room. Small sitting room with wood stove in inglenook. Furnished with 2 comfortable sofas it has Satellite TV, video, DVD and music centre. Selection of books and games provided.
Other: Large hallway suitable for use as extra bedroom. Leading from the kitchen, there is also a shaded outdoor dining area with barbecue overlooking the pool.

We provide friendly villa management to look after you during your stay. A welcome pack of food and drink is provided. Linen is changed weekly (excluding pool/beach towels which are not provided) and a cleaner is available once a week on request.

Notes on accommodation
There is a wood burning stove in the sitting room and portable heaters for use during the winter months. The traditional stone walls and wooden window shutters keep the villa beautifully cool during the summer, but there are portable fans available. The pool is unfenced, therefore babies and toddlers will need constant supervision.

Accessibility
Easy flat surface access to house and patio. Downstairs can be adapted for a wheelchair.

Outside
Set in six acres with private approach road, with abundant terraced gardens, a large area of lawn adjacent to the pool gives views to the sea. Unspoilt farmland to the rear. It is possible to get away from it all and relax completely at Villa Boa Vista. There is a shaded patio with access to Bedroom 1 and a roof terrace with access from Bedroom 2. A shaded outdoor dining and barbecue area leads from the kitchen to the 10m x 5m private pool. Lots of shade provided by trees around the large patio/terrace. Sunlounger beds and plastic garden furniture to relax in.

Coast/Beach
There is easy access to the beautiful local beaches: Fuzeta and its island are our nearest beach and a frequent ferry takes you there in minutes. There are also night ferries and a restaurant on the island. A little further along the coast, Pedras Del Rei beach offers windsurfing and waterskiing with excellent sea food restaurants. To the west of Faro there are golf courses and tennis clubs and at Villamoura Marina,(a 60 minue drive away) deep sea fishing and boat trips can be easily arranged.

Within easy reach of the main Algarvian golf courses and areas.

Travel
The farmhouse is approximately 30 minutes from Faro airport. A car is essential. It is also an easy 2 hour drive from both Lisbon and Seville.

Distances
Approximately 10 minutes away is the town of Olhao, with its busy fishmarket and unspoilt restaurants, and Faro the capital of the province can be reached in 30 minutes. To the east, the Spanish border is close and Seville is only a 2 hour drive away. There are supermarkets in both Olhao and the closest village of Moncarapacho. Slide and Splash and Atlantico Water Parks are within easy driving distance.

This is a family owned property and over the years we have discovered many superb local restaurants. A book of recommendations is available with directions and we welcome all new suggestions!

We require a 20% deposit on booking. The balance is payable 6 weeks before departure.

About the owner
We bought the ruined farm and house in 1989 with the intention of renovating it as a holiday home for our family of 5 children and as a possible residence after retirement. We were attracted to the property because it reminded us of Zimbabwe and Zambia where I was born and where we lived until 1971. We dug a pool and put windows into the house, were connected up to electricity, water and sewerage and a telephone line. An absolute labour of love, over the years all the family have contributed to making it habitable and comfortable without spoiling it's rustic, rural appeal. With the help of the family and Treasa & Richard Campbell, our local agents and friends, we still very much enjoy the peace and tranquility of our beautiful Boa Vista.

We were attracted to the property's idyllic, rural location away from the busy tourist centres, yet within sight of the sea and in close proximity to shops, restaurants, golf and other entertainments.There is a choice of excellent beaches in the near vacinity, too.

It is so peaceful, with nature all around and being able to watch the birds and other small inhabitants going about their lives without interference from humans; yet it is in close proximity to shops, restuarants, beaches, entertainment, etc. by car.
