Situated in a lovely country location with views of hills, countryside and sea. The property has 15,000m2. and is suitable for families and children. 10 mins (800m) walk to Moncarapacho with good restaurants, shops and a markethall for fresh fish, vegetables etc. 4km to the coast and the wonderful beaches. 25km to Faro Airport.

Notes on accommodation
Sometimes several families like to vacation together and don't mind crowding. If that is alright with you, our farmhouse can take up to 18 guests. Bedrooms 5 and 6 and one of the bathrooms is in the annex, built for guests.
Accessibility
Ramps have been built so that we can accommodate one, and perhaps two wheelchair users.
Outside
The property is originally a small farm of about 2.5 acres. The neighbours are a good distance away. The old house is expanded and modernised. The farm included olive, carob, almond and fig trees. When we got our water borehole we planted small fruit trees, palms, grapes, and flowers. In 2004 we bought a small orange plantation. You can pick oranges in the plantation, ang figs when they are ripe. The swimming pool is 4 x 9m, and is protected by a hedge and a gate. It is 2 meters deep at one end, 90 cm. deep at the other end. We have a large, double brick outdoor barbecue and a tiled outdoor dining table. There is a sunroof and a roof terrace. Sandpit for children.
Coast/Beach
The nearest beach is on the mainland at Fuzeta, 5 km. An interesting feature of the coast east of Faro, the Ria Formosa, are the ihlas - long offshore spits which have miles and miles of golden sand facing the Adlantic - wonderful for bathing and all water sports. You can also bathe on the inside of the islands if you want very calm water. The beaches have Blue Flag awards for cleanliness. Part of the adventure for children is simply getting there - by ferry, fishing boat or small gauge railway.
Golf
There are 5 golf courses in Eastern Algarve, all within a short drive. Quinta da Cima is named in the 2004/5 Peugoet Golf Guide as the “Best golf course in Portugal”, Quinta da Ria as the second best. The Benamor course, near the sea, is known for its beauty. The Castro Marim course is close to the Guadiana river, the border to Spain. On the other side of the river are more courses. All the famous courses in Central Algarve are also an easy drive away. We can book for you or provide you with the Internet addresses to the courses.
Special interest holidays
When they are ripe you may pick grapes and figs in the garden. Most of the time there are ripe oranges that you can pick in the plantation. You will find juicers in the kitchen.
Travel
We are 15 miles east of Faro airport.
Car hire is recommended.
Distances
800 meters to the center of the village of Moncarapacho. 7 kilometers to Olhao with its famous fish restaurants and ferries to the Ihlas. 10 km to Estoi with its palace and Roman ruins. 20 km to Tavira with its Roman bridge, riverside restaurants, observatorium and beach (4th best beach in Europe; Telegraph june 2005). Castles at Silves (38 km), Alcotim (32 km) and Castro Marim (30 km). Short drives also to waterparks and themeparks. 2 hours drive to Seville.
Further details
The coast is protected as a bird-breeding area, the Ria Formosa nature reserve. This stops the building of hotels on the coast. Therefore the pressure of tourists is much less in this part of Algarve than West of Faro. 3 km to the north is the east-west motorway. All the attractions of the Algarve are easily accessible, as well as Andalucia in Spain. We are a 10 minutes walk from the unspoiled little town of Moncarapacho. It has 7 restaurants, 4 of them excellent, cafes, bars, 2 good shops, postoffice, banks and an internet-cafe. Birdwatching is fine here. An observatorium with planetarium nearby gives a good outing for groups.
Booking notes
25% deposit to be paid on signing the contract. The prices given are for the first eight people in the group. When there are more people in the group they pay two thirds price per person pr. week. Example: A group has 14 people. The price for first 8 is 750 £. The next 6 pay 2/3. 750 divided by 8, times 2, divided by 3 makes 62,50 £ pr. person. 62,50 times 6 makes 375. When you add that to the 750 for the first 8, it makes a total price for the 14 of 1125 £.

We are a professional couple from Norway, and spend half our time here in Portugal. We are now both pensioners but Anders sometimes writes and gives lectures.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
The micro climate of Algarve is special, with lots of sun, and mild most of the year. We live in the countryside, but only half a mile from the village, with almost all we need. People are friendly and the area is unspoiled by mass tourism.
