Our house is a perfect location for a quiet and private holiday for family and friends. A wonderful getaway tucked in amongst the carob, almond and olive groves and citrus orchards with views over the countryside and out to the sea. Casa katerina offers all home comforts inside the house and outside patios all around the pool and barbeque area are perfect for dining and lounging in or out of the sun. Our mosaiced pool is 4 x 8 metres and has steps going down to the 1 metre shallow end through to the 2 metre deep end. A built-in barbeque is situated on the patio outside the kitchen door, along with tables and chairs. Casa katerina has large glass sliding doors opening out to the patio leading to the pool and allowing plenty of sunlight into the large living room. We have Sky satellite television, a DVD player and CD, radio and speakers. Large French doors open out to the patios and allow plenty of sunlight and fresh air in to the house.

Outside

We have a wooden gazebo which gives shade around the pool side.
Coast/Beach
Superb sandy beaches are within easy reach, all have EEC Blue Flag for cleanliness and polution free water. The part of coast by Tavira belongs to the Parque Natural da Ria Formosa. It consists of dunes and a lagoon complex, which is known as Ilha da Tavira and runs along the coast. It is a paradise for birdwatching. Tavira Island beach on the Ilha da Tavira, can be reached by a short ferry ride. On the beach there are cafés, bars and restaurants.
Golf
About 2 miles east of Tavira you find the Benamor Golf course. Another magnificient Golf Course set in the rolling hills next to the sea is Golf da Quinta da Ria which is only about 6 miles drive from Tavira.
Travel
Faro airport is the nearest and can be reached by car in about 30 minutes. We recommend car hire not only as it facilitates shopping and getting to and fro, but also in order to discover more of the hidden treasures in and about Tavira.
Transport is needed for this location and we recommend that the client arranges this from the airport or when purchasing flights.
Distances
Local shopping is about 5 minutes by car in the small and quaint village of Santo Estavao. There you will find a beautiful church, cafes and small general stores.
Alternatively Tavira offers a large selection of shops and larger supermarkets plus a fantastic morning fish and grocery market. In another village nearby you will find an English run bar and restaurant and some more cafes.
Further details
There are a series of waterfalls about 5 minutes by car in the near by river valley. A true paradise!
The Portuguese call Tavira the "prettiest town in the Algarve". It is a medieval town built on either side of a river, which is spanned by a seven-arch Roman Bridge. Elegant 18th century houses border the Rio Gilao. Castle ruins overlook at least 30 churches. Tavira is renowned for its historical past. Recent excavations have discovered some important Phoenician and Moorish remains.

The pool and gardens are all tended to regularly. You will find a welcome hamper on arrival and any maintenance queiries will be answered promptly.
