This villa, fully refurbished in the late 80s, is set in a mountain valley, with beautiful landscapes. The red and white wine that are made in the house are produced by traditional methods in the press. In the garden, there are apple and cherry trees surrounded by beautiful flowers, providing plenty of colour and shade in the summer. Overlooking the unspoilt Douro Valley mountains, with the gentle majesty of the river, the property is 70km from the coast and from Oporto (Unesco World Heritage) and only 3km from the Douro river (when you can see marvelous sightseens). You will enjoy total privacy in a modernised house, with lovely views in a historic location (Cinfães is the land where was born Serpa Pinto, a Portuguese explorer of southern Africa).

Notes on accommodation
Please note that we accept a maximum of 8 persons. We can also provide a baby's cot (until 2 years old).
Children ages should be mentioned in the enquiry reservation.
Pets are not allowed.
Outside
There is a large lawn that goes from the house until the gate and that surrounds the pool, the tennis court and the children area. A 9m x 6m (30ft x 20ft) swimming pool (cleaned and suitably treated every week) and a tennis court (no rackets supplied) with lights. Play area for children under the surrounding trees. Table tennis, table soccer, barbecue area (carbon grill), garden furniture and also a garage.
Coast/Beach
There are some river beaches just a few kilometres from the villa, in Douro and Bestança (one of the least polluted rivers in Europe).
Golf
There is a 18 hole course at Amarante (45 minutes drive) - Amarante Golf Club.
Travel
Airport/railway:
The nearest international airport is Porto (OPO) at 70km (1.5 hour drive) with flights to major European cities. The airlines that fly to OPO are Ryanair, EasyJet, Tap, Transavia, Air Berlin, Air France, Lufthansa, Iberia, Aigle Azur.
The nearest train station is Mosteirô (10 min drive) - Douro railway (the most beautiful in Portugal with impressive landscapes). Douro is Unesco World Heritage.
Distances
Hiring a car is essencial (we recommend a Renault Megane Break or another one with similar size).
The small village of Cinfaes is only 5 minutes drive.
Guimarães (Unesco World Heritage), Braga, Lamego, Amarante, Régua (the capital of port wine) and Vila Real (all of these towns are 45 minutes / 1 hour drive).
Further details
The environment surrounding the estate is ideal for artists, families or groups of friends, combining privacy, comfort, modern facilities, local attractions, magnificent views and 1.5 hours away from the city of Oporto. Local restaurants, 2 large supermarkets (open until 9pm 7 days a week), wide range of shops, hospital and emergency services (open 24 hours a day), 2 chemists (open 24 hours a day), fuel stations, Banks with exchange services, and a Internet centre (open 7 days a week) are available in the small town of Cinfães (just 1,5 km away from Casa do Lodeiro). Taxi services are available at 300m.
Those interested in trekking will delight in the many footpaths in the surrounding area, a walkers' paradise. Small itineraries can be provided and may include visits to local churches and historic monuments in the nearby towns. We suggest to visit the region of Port Wine with its producing farms and also the sparkling wine cellars. Other activities include water sports, river cruises, trout and barbell fishing (there are often some fishing contests in that area), Coa archaeological site with its pre-historic rock paintings and Roman ruins.
