Our villa, no 6A, is a well maintained villa on the privately owned Quinta de Saudada. There are excellent views across open farmland, a nature reserve and the sea. About 1 mile from the Quinta is the Salgados golf course and several peaceful, sandy beaches close by. The area is quiet and attracts birdwatchers and those wishing to enjoy life in the Algarve. About 5 miles to the east is the town of Albufeira for those wanting a livelier setting. Horse-riding is available at the Quinta's own riding school: the Quinta also has a tennis court and mini golf.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds and include maid service , electricity and gas, linen and towels: weeks falling within two pricing periods will be charged pro rata. 10% discount for two or more consecutive weeks: also negotiable rates for winter lets one month plus. RSPB members discount available. During November to March inclusive firewood and electric are charged extra. Usual start day is Thursday but please ask if you prefer a different start day.

Accessibility
The villa has its own private car park beside the house - from there steps lead down to the entrance door making it unsuitable for wheelchairs or those with walking difficulties.
Outside
The balcony is narrower than normal due to the extension to the lounge, but the roof terrace is larger. On the roof terrace there is a built-in barbeque and ample sunbathing furniture. Private car parking.
Coast/Beach
About 2 miles by road and track: Wonderful birdwatching at Salgados Marsh on way to beach.
Golf
Reduced fees are now available for owners and guests at Salgados Golf Club which is 5 minutes from the quinta.
Travel
40 minutes to Faro airport.
Car hire is recommended.

Further details
The villa is situated next but one to the top swimming pool, which is the quieter of the 2 pools. Also in the Quinta is a hard surface tennis court, riding stables, a mini golf course, a petanque court and a children's play area with its own paddling pool. Internet access available in the Quinta office.
The Quinta is an extremely popular area for family holidays and quiet out of season breaks. Splendid birdwatching locally as well as an hour or so north in the Alentejo.
Booking notes
Once we can confirm the dates you require, we ask for a 20% deposit of the total cost and the balance is payable by six weeks prior to your arrival date at the Quinta. Payment can be by cheque or direct to our UK bank account.
House swap
House swap considered: USA Lennox/Boston area, Australia (NSW/VIC), Greece or anywhere else!! For two but maybe sometimes four adults.

About the owner
As you can see if you look at our website (just click where it says below our phone numbers) we live near Southwold on the East Anglian coast. We've been retired now for a few years and prior to that lived and worked in Seville in southern Spain. We never liked going to the Costa so we always went to the Algarve if we wanted to see the sea - it's only just over two hours on the motorway!

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We bought the villa at the Quinta in 2005 - we too had booked a villa there for a holiday, loved the location and the area - so we bought the villa! We rarely go there in the summer but love the winter time for the fresh climate and the great birdwatching. We've travelled all over Portugal - there's a great train service from the local station direct to Lisbon in four hours (very cheap!) and also one a day direct to Porto right up in north. The roads are excellent and the motorway north from just outside Guia almost traffic free for the first couple of hours. Whilst the coast is superb, so are the inland towns like Silves and Monchique as well as up into the great plains of the Alentejo region - Beja and Evora. Unique benefits of the property
The Quinta is quite unique along the Algarve - you are about a mile from the beach - five miles of lovely golden sand - you can see it from the flat sun roof of the villa pretty well an unobstructed view across the marshes and the Salgados lagoon to the south. The villa faces west into a small valley which is like a motorway for the bird life going north or south - you can sit by the open patio doors watching it all happen right in front of you yet nothing overlooks you! The hillside opposite has nothing except a little old farmhouse hidden in some trees at the top - every morning the sheep and goats come out to graze there - the bushes and flowers ideal for the bees in the hives which you can just spot a few hundred yards away.
