It is 5 minutes by car or 15 on foot to a selection of beautiful beaches and a 10 minute walk into Lagos, with a wide variety of excellent restaurants, bars and clubs

Accessibility
Access to the property is good as there are ramps at the front and lifts. No adaptations have been made internally, but both bathrooms have wide doors and would be wheelchair friendly

The apartment is in a residential area overlooking a small communal space.

Coast/Beach
The town of Lagos boasts some of the most picturesque beaches on the Algarve. Our apartment is 5 minutes by car, or a 15 minute walk to at least 5 beaches. (Meia Praia is 20 minutes and is 4 km of sandy beach) - the other 5 are beaches with red coloured cliffs behind. All are safe for swimming most of the year. There is a 50m outdoor swimming pool 10 minutes walk for a small daily charge

Golf
Boa Vista 18 hole golf course can be seen from the balcony and is about 4km. Palmares Golf 27 hole is 6 km and has beach, cliff and forest courses

Travel
The nearest airport is Faro, 80kms - a 50 minute drive on the motorway. Use of a car is recommended, but not essential, especially if transfers beteen airport and apartment have already been arranged. A taxi is approximately 80 euros. There is a bus between the airport and Faro train station and trains to Lagos take 1hr 45mins. Lagos has an excellent bus service

Distances
Lagos town centre is 10 minute walk, 5 minutes by car. A taxi costs about 5 euros
15km is the larger town of Portimao. A similar distance is historic Silves, with large medieval castle.
25km is Sagres and Cape St Vincent, the most southwestern point of Europe and spectacular sunsets
Further north from Sagres are the surf beaches of the West coast

Further details
Our apartment is 300m from the nearest supermarket. There is a restaurant, a takeaway and 3 cafes just down the road and, within a half kilometre, a number of traditional Portuguese restaurants and cafes. As with the rest of Portugal, there are numerous cashpoints throughout the town

Booking notes
£50 deposit required when making a booking (non refundable).
Balance of payment is due 6 weeks before the start of the holiday
£100 security deposit (or Euro equivalent) to be paid on arrival and repaid on departure
Cancellation refunds
Up to 6 weeks – no cancellation charge
4-6 weeks – 50% of rate refunded
2-4 weeks – 25% of rate refunded
Less than 2 weeks – no refund

About the owner
Alison and I have owned the apartment for the last 5 years and lived in it for the last 2. We chose it because it is not in the main tourist area, but in a quiet, mostly residential and very friendly suburb of Lagos. We will be able to point you in the direction of the best restaurants, beaches, places of interest and day trips.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We love Lagos because of the fantastic facilities in the area. There are some beautiful beaches, the marina boasts a great range of bars and restaurants and a walk down the cobbled streets of the old town is a must. There really is something for everyone here. The area is easily accessible, with Faro airport less than an hours drive away. We love it here and we're sure you will too!!
