Vila Calige is a modern 4-bedroom villa situated in a quiet rural urbanization on the unspoilt Eastern Algarve, 15kms from the charming town of Tavira and close to the Spanish border. Altura is a pretty seaside village with bars, cafes and restaurants and exclusive restaurants in the locality. Main supermarket is a 20-minute walk. Small local restaurant 5-10 minutes' walk. The long sandy beach is just 2km away. A choice of 6 golf courses within a 15-minute drive including the new Jack Nicklaus Monte Rei course. Villa is light and airy, decorated and furnished to a high standard, double glazed with mosquito screens to all windows, security shutters and air-conditioning to bedrooms and lounges. Upstairs bedrooms all have balconies. Garden and pool with shower.

Notes on accommodation
All bedrooms and lounges have air conditioning/heating with remote control. Two hairdryers supplied. Safe supplied. Suitable for less mobile as no steps at ground level. Welcome pack available at small cost if required. Sorry no pets. Non-smoking villa.
Outside
There is an 8m x 4m private swimming pool with shower, garden laid to lawn at the side with palm trees, olive tree and hedging. Paved area with Portuguese barbecue and sink to the rear, rotary clothes line. High quality garden furniture includes loungers, umbrella, table with 8 chairs.
Outdoor lighting enhances the garden and pool.
Coast/Beach
Altura beach with its miles of sand is 2km away. Many more within a 15-minute drive.
Golf
There are 6 golf courses within 15-minute drive, including the new Jack Nicklaus Monte Rei course.
Travel
Faro Airport 40 minutes' drive, Seville Airport 90 minutes, both on the motorway. Car hire is strongly recommended and is available pre-booked from the airport. Flights available from BA, Monarch and Flybe, Ryanair.
Distances
Tavira 15kms. Monte Gordo and Castro Marim 10 minutes' drive. Vila Real de Santo Antonio 15 minutes' drive with Spain across the Guadiana River. Seville 1.5 hours' drive.
Further details
There are plenty of good places to eat out in Altura including good restaurants. Monte Gordo has a casino and bustles with activity during the summer months. Vila Real de Santo Antonio is noted for linen shops. Tavira has a large indoor fish, meat and vegetable market. Bike hire available locally.
Booking notes
Deposit of 20% required, balance to be paid 8 weeks before departure together with a refundable £200 breakage deposit, which will be returned within 14 days once the property has been checked for any damage/breakages.
Directions will be given on receipt of final payment and key posted.

To say I am a little envious would be an understatement, what a beautiful Villa in exactly the right place, not far for anything but far enough away to be private. About the owner
Our villa is family owned by three couples who all live in Southampton. We try to visit as much as we can and we all enjoy the peace and quiet of the villa when we are there.
We have tried to make this a lovely holiday home which we and our visitors can enjoy. We have been very lucky that families who have visited have also taken care of it and it is in just as good condition as when we bought it.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
It was found by one couple travelling along the Algarve. They stopped for a coffee in Altura and happened to be next door to an estate agent. They went in for a chat and were taken to see the villa which was under construction. The urbanization is lovely and quiet yet within walking distance of the shops and restaurants. They loved the fact that the Eastern Algarve is quieter and more traditional with less high-rise properties than the western region. The beach has lovely golden sands which stretch for miles. We love to walk along the beach to Monte Gordo.
If you like golf then there and at least four golf courses within 15 minutes' drive. You don't even have to bring your own golf clubs as they can be hired (pre-booking required) from €35 per week at Faro airport.
Unique benefits of the property
We love the fact that we can sit by the pool and read a book without being disturbed by a lot of noise. There is always somewhere to sit in the shade as the villa is on a corner plot. The balconies enable you to sit quietly with a cool drink if you don't want to be splashed by the kids in the pool!
If you want to explore the area it is only a short drive into the countryside or even into Spain across the Guardiana river by car or the foot ferry.
Why not visit Altura and see for yourselves what a lovely area it is.
