Paimpol cottages are set in and around a town with a rich maritime heritage. For a number of centuries the port was used by fishermen who sailed as far as the waters around Iceland to find cod. Remnants of this industry can still be seen today, a short way from Paimpol self-catering accommodation. The town itself has an historic flavour, with traditional stone houses and narrow, cobbled streets. There’s a weekly market here, which is touted as the largest in the entire region, with an incredible array of fish available. Just outside the town, a few minutes from Paimpol holiday villas stand the ruins of Beauport Abbey, which dates back to the early-13th Century.
