Porter Heights and Mt Hutt ski fields are an hour's drive, and the east coast beaches are 30 minutes away. Changeover day
Unless agreed otherwise, earliest arrival time at Eyrewell Downs is 3:00pm and latest departure time is 10:00am. If Eyrewell Downs is not booked before/after your stay, there may be some flexibility in the arrival/departure times.

The lounge, dining room, family room and master bedroom all open out onto two terraced areas on its north and west sides. Outdoor furniture enables relaxed dining in the garden during the summer months. Three bicycles available (1 adult & 2 x children’s). |

Outside
The lounge, family room and master bedroom all open out onto two terraced areas on its north and west sides. Outdoor furniture enables relaxed dining in the garden during the summer months. A gas barbecue completes the alfresco dining.
Coast/Beach
Extensive ocean beaches from 30 min drive.
The New Brighton Pier is a great place for strolling, fishing or watching the surfers.
Sumner is a great beach for swimming, with ice-cream shops, cafes and restaurants close to the beach.
Waimakariri River, one of New Zealand's largest braided rivers and the South Island's most fished river is only a few kilometres away.

Skiing
Canterbury offers a top selection of skiing and snowboarding attractions at top ski fields with fabulous scenery. The closest skifields to Eyrewell Downs are Porter Heights (1 hour drive) and Mt Hutt (1 1/4 hours drive) which is the largest ski area in Canterbury.
Travel
Christchurch airport is 30 min drive. Car hire is essential as Eyrewell Downs is located in peaceful countryside.

Canterbury offers a diverse range of outdoor activities, reflecting its varied terrain. Rivers provide adventure sports such as rafting and jet boat rides, as well as fishing.
Unusual local climatic conditions are ideal for activities such as paragliding , hot air ballooning and skydiving. Spectacular day and night views may also be seen from helicopter or scenic aeroplane flights.

The International Antarctic Centre gives visitors a fun and hands on experience of the frozen continent.

Further afield you can take a boat ride with the sperm whales off the coast of Kaikoura, relax in the therapeutic thermal waters at Hamner Springs or step back in history in Akaroa, the oldest township of Canterbury.
