There’s an exciting array of attractions just a short journey from your National Forest cottage. Calke Abbey is a stunning Grade I listed 18th Century Baroque mansion. Visitors can go inside, and although the interior has seen better days, the grandeur and elegance of the building is timeless. All across the area are natural attractions, with countless parks, lakes and hills to discover and explore. Beacon Hill is a short drive from National Forest holiday homes and comprises 100 hectares of parkland, with a number of unusual rock formations.

Historic landmarks are numerous in this area, and not far from National Forest self-catering cottages you’ll find the well-preserved ruins of the Grace Dieu Priory, which dates back to the 13th Century.
