The apartment is ideally situated for exploring the fascinating city of Tetouan, enjoying a round of golf in sunshine and beautiful surroundings or simply relaxing by the pool or on one of Northern Morocco’s many sandy, unspoilt beaches that are a well kept Mediterranean secret.

Towels and linen are included and changed weekly. The apartment will be cleaned weekly. Additional cleaning & linen changes can be arranged for an additional charge (payable locally).

Accessibility
Although the apartment is located on the ground floor, there are 4 steps to negotiate between the pavement and the apartment. There are no steps inside the apartment.

Outside
Terrace – south east facing with patio table, four chairs & parasol. Views towards the Rif Mountains.

Coast/Beach
Cabo Negro Beach - a quiet sheltered sandy beach. Drinks & snacks are available at adjacent hotel - 15 to 20 mins walk.

M’Diq – is a pleasant fishing port and beach resort with an attractive promenade - 10 mins drive.

Marina Smir / Kabilla – This is Northern Morocco’s “Golden Mile” of beaches, upmarket hotels, restaurants and boutiques - 20 mins drive.

Golf
Cabo Negro Royal Golf Club is a two minute drive from the apartment. It was designed according to the purest British tradition by Hawtree & Sons and was renovated and extended to 18 holes in 1992 by Cabell B. Robinson. The course is 18 holes (6364 metres) - Par 72. Handicap limit: 28 (Men), 36 (Ladies).
“This course is 18 holes of luxury. The front 9 which runs by the seaside is tight with strategic bunkers and mainly straight fairways but the back 9 opens out into full view of the Rif Mountains which is truly spectacular and there are some great holes. The great thing is though that there is no one on this course - we spotted about 4 people on the whole round in the middle of August. You have to have a caddy and it helps if you speak French otherwise you're down to hand gestures. The greens are in very good nick and so are the fairways but some of the approaches are very tight, which is a good test.” – Tim Sandars August 2006 (taken from golftoday.co.uk)

Travel
From Tangier Boukhalef Airport, it is about 1 hour's drive (50km) to the apartment.

Alternatively, fly to Gibraltar or Malaga airports and take the ferry (45 mins) from Algeciras on the Costa del Sol to Ceuta. The apartment is 30 mins drive from the Ceuta/Morocco border.

Car hire is recommended although transfers can be arranged for an additional charge (payable locally). Please ask for details.

Small village shop useful for essentials - 5 mins walk.

La Ferma is a superb equestrian centre attached to a small hotel with a good licensed restaurant - 5 mins walk.

Pizzeria and Fish Restaurant (unlicensed) within 2 mins walk. (Pizzas are available to take away if you prefer).

La Meridiana – excellent (licensed) French restaurant located by the junction with the main Ceuta – Tetouan road - 15 mins walk

Marjane – Large European style supermarket selling a very wide selection of both Moroccan and imported food and household items including beers, wines & spirits. Cashpoint inside.

M’Diq has a variety of seafood restaurants and cafes and the small town centre is bustling with shops and stalls selling fresh bread, fruit, vegetables, freshly landed fish and meat.

A visit to the fascinating Medina of Tetouan is a must although we would very strongly recommend that you hire a guide as there is a real risk of getting hopelessly lost in the maze of streets, alleyways and souqs!

Morocco is a progressive Muslim country and the king is the spiritual leader. It has strong ties to Europe and is very tolerant of other religions. We have found the people friendly, helpful and very generous with both their time and hospitality.

The official language is Arabic but the dialect spoken in Morocco is significantly different to the Arabic spoken in the Middle East. However, a majority of Moroccans also speak fluent French which is the main business language and most official signs are bi-lingual in French and Arabic. The area around Tetouan was part of the Spanish Protectorate in the early 20th Century and as such, many locals also speak Spanish and you will find restaurant menus in both French and Spanish. English is perhaps less widely spoken but a combination of school boy French, pigeon English, smiling & pointing and a smattering of Spanish seems to be more than adequate to get by.

20% deposit required on booking with remainder to be paid two weeks before arrival. Note: Minimum rental period is 3 nights. A small security deposit is payable locally on receipt of the keys and this is refunded upon departure when the keys are handed back.
