Five columns is a beautiful 200-year-old house set in the Chbanat area, near to the main gate of Bab Marrakesh in the ancient Medina of Essaouira. The house has been designed to make your stay as comfortable as possible with 4 double bedrooms all with open plan en suite bathrooms.The property has recently gone through a complete renovation and has been sympathetically restored, retaining all the original features such as the sand stone columns, wood ceilings and the amazing flooring of black and white traditional tiles in the courtyard. The house is filled with a mix of vintage and modern European furniture and lighting. This friendly local community has an array of shops nearby with plenty of helpful shopkeepers on hand to provide all you will need for your stay. There are cafes, restaurants, the beach and harbour all within a 10 minute walk.

Notes on accommodation
Air-conditioning not required. Fireplaces with firewood in the 2 lounge areas. Electric heaters and blankets are included. The house is built in a traditional riad style with lots of stairs so young children should be careful.

1st floor sun terrace with sun loungers and large round dining table and 8 chairs. Bar area with seating, fridge and sink. 2nd floor terrace with sun loungers.

10 mins to the beach. Large sandy beach with kite surfing lessons available.
Travel
The nearest airport is Marrakech which is approximately 2.5 hrs drive. We can organise transfers to and from the airport.

I whisked my girlfriend away to Morooco for her birthday last year. I've been to Morocco many times and decided to spend most of our time by the coast.
I'd been referred to 5 columns through a friend and it really didn't disappoint. To find such a stylish haven amidst the cacophony of the medina is such a wonderful thing. You can see the owners have really put some love into the interiors - I've been told they're interior designers and it showed.
Although there were four of us. It would comfortably accomodate 8 adults as there's a decent sized roof terrace with a bar and a big round table for al fresco dining. There are four very good sized bedrooms all with en-suites and a lovely open fire in a snug that was nice in the evening when it got a little chillier. In addition, the house was very well maintained with quality white linens and big fluffy towels - nice touches that make such a difference.
