This beautiful, large 1st floor apartment with its own separate entrance, is just a few steps up from the seafront’s 7 mile-long promenade ‘Setaliste Pet Danica’ which starts in Igalo and encompasses Herceg Novi. With its lush and unique Mediterranean vegetation, Herceg Novi is a picturesque and historic old town situated at the entrance of the Bay of Kotor, the Southern most Fjord in Europe. The town is very close to Dubrovnik and Kotor, both recognised as Unesco world heritage sites. Its places of interest include the city gates, several fortresses, the monastery of Savina and the Regional Museum of Herceg Novi. The latter includes a beautiful botanic garden with more than 100 specially chosen, subtropical and Mediterranean plants. During the summer you can enjoy great nightlife: nightclubs, cafes, restaurants, some placed on the spectacular old fortresses. On ‘Kanly Kula’ there is an open air cinema. There is also an open air theatre for children.

Outside
A few steps down from apt entrance leads to main promenade that runs for 7 miles along the seafront. Small trains run along the front to the numerous beaches, cafes, restaurants and bars. Beneath the apartment are a few small shops that provide the basic essentials. A few hundred metres along the promenade is a small supermarket (but bring your own English tea bags!). Directly opposite the apartment is the Sports Café. This modern café, restaurant and bar, looking like the deck of a sailing boat, is highly regarded, with its marina location and view over the water-polo pool (Serbia and Montenegro are the current World Champions). To the right of the apartment, 2 mins walk away, is the Yachting Club which offers Med/national, Italian restaurant and pizzeria, café Gelateria, baby beach, lux beach, water sports, diving, waterpolo, volleyball, fitness, big game fishing, touristic tours by bus, boat and by yacht and art plus-painting workshop.
Coast/Beach
There are numerous small beaches minutes from the apartment. Including the aforementioned “Baby Beach”. The public beaches become crowded in July and August as anywhere in the Mediterranean. Short boat trips (30 minutes) will take you to beautiful large, more peaceful beaches on nearby islands. Also there are a number of daily boat/yacht trips from the marina to all the local tourist hotspots and beaches, such as Kotor, Sveti Stefan, Budva, Dubrovnik and beach of Ulcinj 13km long.
Special interest holidays
Kotor is an ancient walled town at the end of the fjord. It is very pretty with fortress walls with an open air cinema at the top ascending the side of the mountain. There are lots of churches and buildings from the Byzantine period, as well as many other cultures. The best way to visit this town is by ferry from the marina outside the apartment. It is relatively inexpensive and you will get to see the beautiful bay. Dubrovnik (Croatia) is a beautiful medieval city with huge walls built between 11th and 17th century. It is very pretty with its churches, monasteries, palaces, wide sunlit squares and steep narrow cobbled streets filled with very good restaurants. In summer months it offers famous outdoor concerts and other cultural events such as opera and ballet. Budva is a large vibrant town with an inner historical old town dating back 2000 years, with lots of restaurants and bars. It takes about an hour to drive there (use the ferry crossing at 3.5 euro).
Travel
There are 2 nearby international airports. Tivat, 15km away has in high season, direct flights from London Heathrow by JAT. Dubrovnik Cilipi Airport, is less than 30km and 45 mins taxi ride (details available) across the border. Most European countries have airlines flying directly into Dubrovnik, including British Airways and Croatian Airway. New! Check Thomsonfly for cheap direct flights from Luton to Dubrovnik!
Distances

St Stefan 40km (inc a ferry crossing at the straits of Kotor). ‘Njegos’ Monastery 2 hours (on coach trip) Podgorica (formerly Titograd) the capital of Montenegro 70km. Further details
The Adriatic coastline of Montenegro is one of the most beautiful in Europe, with wonderful beaches and crystal clear, warm Adriatic water. The people are very friendly and will go out of their way to welcome you. Unlike many Mediterranean destinations, you will not come across badly behaved drunks or hooligans, as the locals prefer a strong coffee to a strong drink. The local restaurants are reasonably priced and serve fresh seafood, meat and vegetables, all ecologically clean and from the local mountains.

Guest comments
'We cannot recommend highly enough, both the wonderful Montenegrian scenery and hospitality and this fabulously and ultra-spacious, comfortable apartment. A must-visit place – before the rest of the world finds it' - Belinda and Alan Sept 2005.
‘I just wanted to let you know we had a lovely time in Montenegro. The apartment was beautiful, the weather was great, and we had some lovely food - particularly the fresh fish! All in all we couldn't have asked for a more relaxing week away. Everything was fine at the border crossing with Sasa as well. We both said that we'd definitely go back to Montenegro again-stunning place. Thanks again’. James, August 2007
