Bright and beautifully presented apartment in the stunning waterside village of Perast. Lovely view across the bay and of the Baroque church just below. The apartment has carefully selected furniture, internal stonework, oak flooring and hand made rugs. It feels like a home from home - there is everything you need for cooking great meals, toys and games, books to browse and plenty of local information. There is small patio filled with geraniums, herbs and a lemon tree. Here you can dine outside listening to goat bells on the nearby mountain. Pretty stone steps and and a path strewn with orange trees lead down to the shoreline less than two minutes away. Here you will find a small local shop selling groceries, wine and beer and plenty of waterfront cafes and restaurants. You are free to sun-bathe and swim by the many stone jetties along the waterfront. The water is very clean and lovely to swim in. Parking is available on the road a few metres above the apartment.

Accessibility
Do please be aware the apartment is not right by the waterfront and if you have difficulty walking or going up steps then this is not the best apartment. There are 120+ stone steps down to the waterfront, which takes me just under 2 minutes to go down and a little longer coming back up.
But anyone with a mobility problems, a bad knee, arthritis etc would find the steps challenging.
Outside
There is a small private patio (to the front of the apartment) with views up to the mountains. Pictures show the view of the patio from the bedroom and of the mountains. The patio is filled with plants and there are tables and chairs for dining out side. Adjacent to the patio are some pretty stone steps leading down to the waterfront - from here you can sit and enjoy a glass of wine a with wonderful view over the bay.
Coast/Beach
Although there are no sandy beaches in Perast you are free to sun-bath and swim by the many stone jetties along the waterfront. The water is very clean and lovely to swim in.
The Adriatic coast is a 20 minute drive with the famous sandy Jaz beach near Budva or if you prefer quieter sandy beaches, these can also be found on Lustica peninsula with its beautiful wild landscape 20 minutes drive from Perast.
Travel
Dubrovnik airport is 40 miles (1 hour drive) with frequent flights from London, Manchester, Nottingham and Birmingham with Flybee, BA, Thomsonfly and Croatian airlines. Tivat airport is 16 miles (30 minute drive) with flights from London Heathrow with Jat/Montenegro airlines. Car hire can be booked from either airport.
Distances
Kotor is 15 minute drive away or hourly buses will take you into town for €1.50.
Further details
Perast is one of the most beautiful waterfront towns in Montenegro, combining both Mediterranean ambiance with Baroque elegance. From May the waterfront is lined with cafes and restaurants selling fresh fish and Mediterranean specialities at very reasonable prices. You can relax with a cool beer looking out across the spectacular bays ringed in mountains - the “fjords” of the Mediterranean. The food and drink in Montenegro is excellent. Perast has several great restaurants serving local fish and good domestic and foreign wines. One of the best restaurants in the area, the ‘Stari Milini’ (set in a beautiful old watermill) is about 10 minutes drive away. Just in front of Perast lie two exceptionally photogenic islands - Gospa od Skpjela (Our Lady of the Rock), and Sveti Juraj (St. George). You can take a small boat trip to these islands for approx. €3.00 per person.

About the owner
My partner and i have a small restaurant and deli in London.
I love swimming, walking, photography and Montenegro offers lot's of opportunities. It feels wonderful to have an apartment with beautiful water to swim in just 2 minutes away!
Year purchased: 2006
Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
I was enchanted with Perast when i first visited the Bay of Kotor in 2006 and bought the apartment there later that year. The apartment was the best of all i saw - it was in a quiet location, up high with lovely view over the bay and with outside space. I managed the rennovation, importing a lot of the fittings and furniture.
For me Perast is in a kind of magical setting at the head of the bay, the mountains come right down to the shoreline and their colours ever changing through pinks, purple and blues. I love it in all seasons.
Perast seems to be both majestic with it's venetian style Palaces along the waters edge as well as having a simple and timeless quality about it - and unlike other places along the coast there won't be any new developments to change it's character.
