Close by you’ll find wonderful sandy stretches of coast at Trapezaki, Lourdas and Spartia, all enjoying views over to the neighbouring island of Zante. Metaxata holiday accommodation is only a little way from St George’s Caste, a major landmark that dates back to the Middle Ages and was the island’s main seat of power until the 18th Century. From here you can admire views panoramas that take in the coastline and mountains behind it. Kefalonia’s interior has some truly spectacular landscapes, and you could set off from a Metaxata apartment to discover remote villages and ancient vineyards by car or on foot.
