This beautiful cottage style villa has been converted from the former Post Office and Village Shop. The house is filled with original and traditional Madeiran features and has been sympathetically renovated to provide a restful home as a base for a perfect holiday. If you like the idea of living within a typical Madeiran community while relaxing in the quiet haven of the substantial tropical gardens, you will love this house. With three sun terraces for al fresco dining for 8, and a sun deck area in the garden - in full sun all day – and a wood BBQ the villa lends itself to a very social holiday.
Accommodation upstairs: two double bedrooms both with access to the south-facing sun terrace benefiting from fabulous sea and mountain views, large family bathroom and study room.Accommodation downstairs: two double bedrooms and original and renovated bathroom. Two lovely sitting rooms – one featuring the original bread oven now used as an open fire place. Also equipped with TV/DVD.

If guests arrive or leave the house after 6pm our representative will charge an extra 30 Euros for the check in/out. As well this applies for arrivals & departures Saturdays and Sundays.

Notes on accommodation
Each bedroom has a ceiling fan for hot summer nights, and there are electric heaters if necessary on occasional nights in winter, and the bread-oven fireplace in the sitting room. There is also a travel cot for babies.

Accessibility
The house, with the potential to use the ground-floor bedrooms and bathroom, is suitable for those who are unable to climb steps, as is the access of the house from the road without having to use steps.

3 outside part-shaded terraces each with loungers and tables and chairs, and garden decking area in constant sunshine.
The garden is filled with tropical flowers and mature fruit trees including numerous banana plants, grapes, guava, passion fruits, custard apple, fig and avocado which guests are welcome to sample according to season.

1 kilometre / 5 minutes drive to sandy beach at Cahleta (30 minutes walk).
Water park 40 minutes away at Funchal.

45 minutes from Funchal airport.
Distances
The house is in a central location in the rustic village of Arco da Cahleta well equipped with a supermarket, bars and restaurants. A wider selection of shops is available at the nearest town of Cahleta. The regional centre is 20 minutes away at Ribeira Brava, which is an interesting tourist location. Funchal itself with several large shopping centres is 25 minutes by car.

Booking notes
The owner to final reserve; is looking for a bank transfer of a 50% deposit on booking, which is not refundable. The balance is to be paid at least SIX (6) weeks before you are due to arrive. Our representative will collect a 100 euros deposit in case of breakages, etc., and will return it on your departure. Please confirm this deposit or if you prefer the total for week rental AS SOON AS POSSIBLE - You can do the deposit within any bank and send us a copy.
Guest comments
We, two adults, had a sabattical month (October) and had our four grown up children and two of their friends with us for two weeks. The Old-post-office was even much more attractive than one could imagine from the available photos. The house was very well equipped, clean and well maintained. Due to the nice kitchen and Dinning room we made our own food, and the dinners to highlight the wonderful days. We also used the possibilties to make barbeque outside.High speed wireless internet was available to work from the study using ones own portable. We have recommended the property to our friends, and have made a tentative reservation for a month in next Autumn. I guess that is the best recommendation one can give. Dr. L, Finland.
