These beachfront apartments are located on the sunny southern coast overlooking the sea, at the end of the ocean front promenade of Reis Magos beach. The promenade is well lit and paved and makes a very nice walk. Canico de Baixo is a beautiful coastal yet quiet tourist zone. There are a number of really good local restaurants within walking distance. It is an ideal location for those who want a resort holiday, away from the busy city of Funchal. The limpid waters of the Atlantic in Caniço de Baixo offer three excellent diving schools and perfect diving conditions. The crystal clear waters of Reis Magos beach has the ‘Blue Flag’. The village of Canico with a shopping centre and supermarkets is 2km away. Funchal the capital of Madeira is approx 12km and the airport is 13km. A local bus runs hourly to Funchal and other locations on the eastern side of the island. The local hotels each offer indoor (heated in winter) and outdoor swimming pools and full sports facilities. 3 diving schools.

Changeover day
Changeover day flexible. We can accomodate early & late flight arrivals, but the standard arrival & departure times are 9am - 1pm. Charter Flights are available from all major UK airports. Easyjet flies daily from Stansted & Gatwick & 3 times ex Bristol.

11th floor Beachfront Apartment

Beautiful open 11th floor apartment with magical views seaward. 142 square meters, two bedrooms (each with its own veranda), two bathrooms, and a large living/dining area (with terrace). This apartment provides a very comfortable retreat for four people. Each bedroom has a veranda facing east with wonderful views of the sea, the coast and the mountains. There are wardrobes and a dressing table in each bedroom. The living/ dining area opens onto a terrace also offering views to the east with an additional, spectacular view south, directly onto the sea. The living room has seating for 5 and the dining room seats 6. The kitchen has a fridge, freezer, oven, microwave, washing machine, 2 ring stove. There are 2 bathrooms, each with toilet, bath with shower and Bidet. Towels and linens are provided. Satellite TV, radio, stereo system. |

Notes on accommodation
3 large electric radiators. Not suitable for children, on 13th floor and 11th floor respectively. Serviced by two lifts. WiFi Internet access in the Penthouse. Because one apartment is a Penthouse with huge opening patio doors on all 3 sides of the apartment and because both apartments are on the sea front they do not get over hot, and so air-conditioning is not required. Many holiday apartments in Madeira have sea views, but few are actually by the sea shore. This apartments are less than 50 meters from the sea shore.

Outside
Surrounded by a large veranda 7'6’ wide all around - the penthouse accommodates sunbeds, patio table chairs, with plenty of room to walk around & stretch ones legs. Because of its layout, the sun shines on some part of the veranda throughout the day & also provides shade for those wishing to enjoy the outdoors, without direct sunlight. Regardless which apartment you choose, both overlook the seashore so it's an excellent place to sit, listen, & watch the sea lapping on the seashore. There is a regular passage of boats, cruise ships or fishing boats past the veranda. Fishing is popular. Funchal can be reached on the excellent local bus service in 21 mins. So unlike the remote western side of the Island, car hire is not necessary in Canico de Baixo. The apartments are also an ideal base from which to tour the island or levada walk. Underneath the apartments is one of the best tourist companies on the island. They take customers on trips in mini buses rather than large coaches.
Coast/Beach
The apartments are situated at the end of the ocean front promenade of Caniço de Baixo about 50m from the Praia dos Reis Magos [Reis Magos Beach]. All beaches are pebbled, but an area of Reis Magos beach has a small area of sand.
The promenade is well lit and paved and makes a very nice walk.
Canico de Baixo is a beautiful yet quiet coastal tourist zone with 3 renowned diving schools as well several indoor and outdoor swimming pools in the hotels. It has plenty of good local resaurants.
Golf
Golfers will be pleased to know that the new Palheiro golf course is about 7km away. Classic Madeiran hills, ridges and deep valleys have all been incorporated into the terrain to produce a dramatically interesting course, with stunning views. UK visitors are made very welcome and we can arrange for our clients to be included in some informal rounds of golf at the Club.
The spectacular 27-hole Santo da Serra golf course [also known as Campo de Golfe part of the PGA European Tour] is also within easy reach - 13 km away. This is Madeira’s oldest golf course. It sits high up on a plateau and is marvelously scenic with inspirational views back up the mountains and out over the Atlantic below. More details on www.madeira-golf.com
Travel
Funchal airport is 13km.
Car hire is not essential as there are hourly buses to Funchal and other eastern resorts. Taxis are reasonably priced.
A taxi service is supplied to pick guests up and take them to and from the airport at a charge of 25 euros each way.
There is a one way system in Canico de Baixo so the first time one goes to the apartment it is difficult to find. For that reason we strongly recommend not pre-booking car hire from the airport.
Distances
Canico village is 2km. Funchal is 12km. Airport 10km.
The splendid gardens of Quinta Splendida are less than 2km - no entrance fee.
Golf is 10 minutes by car.
Further details
Canico de Baixo is a good location from where one can hike and walk the islands amazing levada irrigation system spanning 2,500 kilometers, which meander round the mountains. We recommend you use Turivema - check it out on madeiralevadawalks.com. They are located on the ground floor of the apartment complex.
Booking notes
Property rental all season £340 - £360, per apartment per week, 2-person occupancy. Add £30 per week for each additional person. A deposit, payable to Kilrush Estates Ltd., for £100.00, per week booked, is required to confirm a booking. Any request to reserve the apartment must be followed by a deposit within 10 working days. If the week you require is booked try our other penthouse apartment MD3 in Garajau with superb 30’ x 40’ private terrace with panoramic views of the Atlantic.
Guest comments
We really enjoyed our holiday in your beautiful apartment. We loved the bright and light flooded rooms and very much enjoyed being able to relax on the sun loungers and tables and chairs on the spacious veranda outside. Being able to move in and out of the sun was an added bonus as the sun moved around the apartment in the course of the day. We will certainly be regular visitors in the future. Pat and Gordon Simmons
