5 minutes from the coastline. Access to the beach is by lift where you can have your daily swim and enjoy the beachfront restaurant. The coastline here at Garajau is also a conservation area, providing sanctuary for whales, dolphins and seals.

Funchal Airport is 10 minutes drive from Garajau. The local bus service operates from the main street to all the towns. Car hire is available locally but not essential.

Garajau is just a 2 minute walk. The centre of Funchal and Canico is only 10 minute drive.
Further details
Madeira is known for the lovely Levada Walks, many of which start in Garajau. Fishing and cycling are also a must. A day trip around the island is a great way to see the beautiful ocean, wildlife and flora in particular the famous Birds of Paradise. Garajau is bustling village situated on the sea shore just 10 minutes from Funchal and the Airport.
The Village centre is well serviced by many shops, cafes, restaurants, bakery, hair salon, beauty parlour and pet store. It is ideal for walking cycling and general relaxation. Excellent nightly entertainment available in the local hotel. Regular bus and taxi service and car hire available locally. You can visit the magnificent statue of Christ Ria at the bottom of the hill, where you can experience the beautiful views of the Bay of Funchal.
This coastline is a conservation area and has recently been upgraded, you can now access the beach by lift, where you can have your daily swim and visit the beachfront restaurant. Don't be surprised if you see some dolphins or whales. My apartment is just 2 minutes off the main road.
