A beautiful colonial villa with 3 spacious self-catering apartments, 1 on each floor. Large swimming pool (not heated) unsuitable for small children as there is no shallow end and no protection. Deckchairs, outside dining space, BBQ and sub-tropical garden. This house was completely restored in January 2008. It still has all the original wooden floors, metal plated ceilings and lots of other stunning period features (this means that some noise can filter down from flat to flat). Each flat is between 80-100sqm, all with a balcony. Very near the old quarter, restaurants, sea and downtown Funchal. The market is a 5 minute walk away. A perfect base to relax, enjoy the great climate down by the sea where it is warm most of the year. No car necessary, within walking distance of the centre and close to a bus top for longer journeys. Great base to explore the best Funchal and Madeira have to offer and to relax after a long levada walk. Casual and friendly place.

Prices are for the property per week in euros. Prices quoted above are for 2 people, for any extra person over 12 years old 20 Euro per day/per extra person. Children 02-12 years 10 Euro per day/per extra child. 50% deposit required upon making a booking (bank transfer), the remaining 50% to be paid upon arrival at the property. Deposit is non-refundable.

Notes on accommodation
Lovely sub-tropical garden creates an oasis around the pool, sunbathing area around the pool is bathed in sunlight most of the day. Feel free to pick the organic spinach and other herbs that grow around the property.
Not very suitable for small children due to pool safety precautions, especially middle and bottom floor. No heating necessary due to the climate, as the house is nearly 100 years old with very thick stone walls it is also prepared for warm weather and does not need fans or air conditioning. Services included: Linen and towels. Normal consumption of water and electricity. Funchal's subtropical climate can bring occasional visits from small indigenous insects even with regular treatments.

Not suitable for wheelchair users or people with mobility problems.
Outside
Sub-tropical climate may bring occasional mosquitoes and garden lizards to Funchal. Parking is done on the road just in front of the property which is a quiet back road. Swimming pool has no shallow end and is not heated. 8x4m wide and 1.40m deep. 4 sunbathing deck chairs around the pool. Outside each flat there is a table and chair for outside dining/reading.
There is a traditional view-tower on the edge of the property to catch sight of the incoming ships. Garden is still young but will grow quickly, it is filled with sub-tropical plants such as banana trees and palm trees. Barbecue for each flat. Shared washing machine in the outdoor bathroom.
Coast/Beach
Barreirinha beach 5 mins walk (300m), this is a public access beach in the historic old quarter of Funchal.
Golf
Palheiro golf course within 10 min car ride, and Santo da Serra Golf were the Madeira Island Open is staged every year in March is 20min car ride away.
Travel
20km from Madeira International airport. 1km from Funchal port. Car is not necessary as a bus stop is just down the road.
Distances
Set 300m from the historic centre of Funchal, the market and restaurants of the ‘zona velha’. 10 mins walk from cinema, larger supermarket and shopping mall. Small supermarket and coffee bar 20m away.

Shops, restaurants, bank, pharmacy, supermarket all within 5 mins walking distance in the old quarter. Madeira Story Centre and Funchal market about 300m away.
