Accessibility
The village is in the mountain region and therefore very hilly. Apartment is in an elevated position within the village and access to apartment is via stone staircase, so not suitable for people with mobility problems.
Outside
Attractive large split level terraces on 3 sides of the apartment have been planted and paved to make an ideal place to relax in either sun or shade with sun loungers, tables and bench seating for outside dining. Separate barbecue area with sheltered dining, cooking and food preparation area. Electric lighting enables the views across Funchal to be enjoyed night or day. Coast/Beach
Funchal town, lido and harbour are a 10 minute drive or 15 minutes by cable car from Monte. The beautiful coastal regions of Santa Cruz, Machico, Camara de Lobos can be reached within 30-45 minutes via the expressway. Madeira is a beautiful Island, renowned for its flora and fauna. There are numerous panoramic viewing points throughout the region making every journey a pleasure.
Golf
There are 2 championship golf courses, both within easy reach by car and both have spectacular views throughout the courses. Palheiro Golf 18-hole course is approx 20 minutes drive. Santo da Serra golf is home to the Madeira Open and is approx 45 min drive. 36 holes. Both have practice range, buggy and trolley hire, pro shop, clubhouse and restaurant.

The location of Marmeleiros village is within the heart of the Monte region, making it an ideal base for walkers, explorers or people just wanting a relaxing holiday. Funchal is famous for its spectacular firework displays, which can be viewed from the terraces. The village is surrounded by forests and there are numerous panoramic sites, gardens and places of interest within 10-15 minutes of the apartment.

Funchal airport is 20km away.
Distances
Pico dos Barcelos is just 10/15 minutes, offering spectacular day and evening views across the region. Pico dos Torres is the highest point of the Island, approx 15km drive. Monte, famous for its gardens, church, cable cars and toboggons is just 5 mins drive. Monte church is lit up at night and can be seen from the apartment terraces.
Further details
There is a lovely bakers/coffee shop on the corner of the road, with fresh bread, cakes and pastries daily. Open from 06.30 till dusk. There are several restaurants within an easy drive. Madeira Shopping Centre is within 10 mins drive. Funchal Town with markets, shops, restaurants also within 10 mins.
