This luxurious penthouse apartment overlooking the sea, promenade, Cabo Girão and The Bay of Funchal. Situated on the Estrada Monumental, where many 5* hotels and restaurants, bars, shops, supermarket, banks, taxi ranks, bus stop, all within a few minutes walk. The centre of Funchal is a pleasant walk, 10-15min, or a few minutes by bus or taxi. Just in front of the apartment, there is also a promenade which there are several swimming complex's, and a stony beach and rock pools at the end of the promenade. The Madeira Magic, is a new health club, indoor swimming pool, sauna, Turkish bath, etc. full gym equipment, classes of all kinds with a beatifull garden and a pleasant tea room. This apartment have a beatifull Sunny balcony with beautiful sea views with privacy. Sunsets are an absolute must (see photos). A bus and taxi stop is available outside the main gates. New large shopping mall just within a 2min walk, and a cinema, (English films), is on the other side of the street.

Lovely restaurants of all kinds. Portuguese, wonderful fish, Italian, Spanish, Indian, Chinese, Japanese. Beautiful leveda walks, cable car with spectacular views taking you to exotic gardens. Whale & Dolphin trips, sunset cruises, big game fishing. Take a tour to the top of the island, & look down on the clouds below you. Horse riding in the mountains. Diving, & lessons. Santo da Serra - 3 x 9 holes (27 holes). Palheiro -18 holes. Palheiro Golf 5 mins car drive away and Santo da Serra Golf 20 mins drive away.
Special interest holidays
Madeira has fantastic walk-in Levadas which are the irrigation channels built back in the 16th century to bring water from the north to the south. Whale and dolphin spotting and Marlin fishing. Festivals. Flower Festival from the 24th of April until 1 May 2007. Wine Festival In September. Xmas for the amazing lights and New Year for the famous fireworks. Carnival in February.
Travel
Touch down - On 29 October easyJet (0905 821 0905) launches daily flights from Stansted and flights from Bristol on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Existing ‘with-frills’ services are operated by GB Airways on behalf of BA. Funchal airport is about 24km from the apartment (30€ by taxi). Travel time by car is approximately 20-25 mins. It is not essential to hire a car as cabs and buses are frequent and cheap. Excursions are the best way to tour this beautiful island.

Funchal town centre is about 10 mins by bus or car. Going out of town, the fishing village of Camara de Lobos is about 15 mins away. Levada walking is one of the highlights of visiting Madeira as is a visit to Nun's Valley. The Botanical Gardens, Monte Palace are a must for gardening enthusiasts. Take tea at Reids, gamble at the Casino, and visit the Opera House. I usually send guests a list of places to visit, things to do prior to departure. Again vist my website for more ideas. Shops, restaurants, bank, pharmacy, supermarket all within 5 mins walking distance. Forum Madeira Shopping Center is just the other side of the road.

'Thanks again for the use of the penthouse. It is an apartment which you have furnished and decorated very nicely. We enjoyed staying there and appreciated your kind efforts in answering all our questions, especially about Jazz clubs. The views of Cabo Girao from both the balcony and our bedroom were superb and we will always remember the fireworks on News Years Eve and standing on top of Pico Ruivo on New Years Day.
