The apartament is located in Funchal, just a 30 minute car ride from Madeira International Airport (about 30 euros in a taxi) and just 5 minutes from Funchal city centre. Very close to the sea and swimming pool complexes. You do not need a car to reach restaurants, bars, supermarket, chemist, bank, post-office, etc...all reached within 1-5 minute walk.

Notes on accommodation
Within a few minutes walking distance of the apartment, there is a beautiful promenade leading to rock pools and a stony beach, and several swimming complex's. Also, a new health club, indoor swimming pool, sauna, Turkish bath, etc. full gym equipment, classes of all kinds. There are several places close by for fishing as well. There is a new shopping centre close by, with 100 shops, restaurants, large supermarket, 7 screen cinema, showing latest English films. Internet cafes with easy access if needed. Lovely restaurants of all kinds. Portuguese, wonderful fish, Italian, Spanish, Indian, Chinese, Japanese. Beautiful leveda walks, cable car with spectacular views taking you to exotic gardens. Whale & Dolphin trips, sunset cruises, big game fishing. Take a tour to the top of the island, & look down on the clouds below you. Horse riding in the mountains. Diving, & lessons. Accessibility
Near the apartment you can find a supermarket, pharmacy, post office, bank and several other shops catering for your everyday needs. Public transport (bus and taxi) is conveniently located at the front of the apartment.
Outside
Included is a small garden and patio, where you can use a barbecue. We have outdoor furniture (table and chairs), etc. If you want you can use a private swimming pool for a little charge (around 5€).
Coast/Beach
Lido Sea beach complex is 3 to 5 mins walk (300m), this is the biggest public access beach in the touristic quarter of Funchal. The "promenade - lido walk" is a pleasant footpath along the coast in front of the apartment.
Golf
Palheiro Golf 5 mins car drive away and Santo da Serra Golf 20 mins drive away.
Special interest holidays
Madeira has fantastic walk-in Levadas which are the irrigation channels built back in the 16th century to bring water from the north to the south. Whale and dolphin spotting and Marlin fishing.

Why go now?
On a spectacular rocky outcrop in the mid-Atlantic, nature, history and culture converge to form a fascinating destination. This month, Madeira joins the "no-frills" map, with easyJet flights from Stansted and Bristol to the island's spectacular airport for as little as £45 return. November temperatures in the mid-20s Celsius make this a good time to explore the island or walk the levadas (irrigation channels taking water from the wet north to the drier south). And at any time of year, the capital, Funchal, is well worth a visit.
Touchdown.
On 29 October easyJet launches daily flights from Stansted and flights from Bristol on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Existing "with-frills" services are operated by GB Airways on behalf of BA which flies up to five times a week from Gatwick to Funchal, from £59 one way; and TAP Portugal from Heathrow.
The airport is about 10 miles east of Funchal. An Aerobus service runs between the airport, Funchal city centre and the Lido area every 90 minutes or so for a fare of €4 (£2.80). Passengers on TAP Portugal travel free from the airport, on production of a boarding pass for an inbound flight. A taxi costs about ¿25 (£18).

Located to the west of North Africa, Madeira ("island of timber") was discovered in the early 15th century by the Portuguese navigator, Joao Zarco, who gave the capital, Funchal, its name from the fennel (funcho), which can be found growing in abundance. The 21st-century city is arranged along steep hillsides and deep ravines on the drier south coast. The main hotel district, known as Lido, is on the western side of town.
