The spacious apartment is in a small, quiet residential block just a few minutes walk away from the city centre, yet commanding superb views over the harbour and bay. The neighbouring property is the Quinta Mae dos Homens. There is a dedicated parking space underneath the block. Hardwood floors in all living spaces. Both beds are king-size. Large, comfortable living room leading out on to apartment-wide verandah. Marble worktops in kitchen. English and international channels on full-size television. All you need for a comfortable stay in our family home.

In addition to nearby Mercado dos Lavradores (central market) and Anadia shopping centre and supermarket in the city, there are local shops and cafes (including an excellent bakery) and a dry cleaner's. A coffee bar/cake shop two streets away has wi-fi access.

About the owner
I live in Brighton with my wife and nine-year-old daughter, Labrador, two cats, hamster and goldfish. We love being on the doorstep of the South Downs and by the sea, so were bound to fall in love with Madeira.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We all work hard, in business or at school, so wanted to have a proper family home in a beautiful place where we could just arrive and relax, with all the comforts and conveniences we have in Sussex.

Unique benefits of the property
The area is far enough from the crowds, but close enough to local shops, the centre of Funchal and the promenade. Rochinha is an area favoured by Funchal's professionals, with a lovely mix of old and new and views to die for.
