Vila da Igreja is located on the outer edge of the hotel zone of Funchal, surrounded by banana groves and detached family homes, in a quiet, rural location. Directly below the beautiful church of Sao Martinho, one of the island’s places of interest. 100m below the house meanders the Levada de Pornais, on which you can stroll to the centre of town, with a constant beautiful view of the sea. Or take the other direction, heading for jagged ravine and the abandoned village of Faja. Bus stops for 5 city bus routes are within a 10 minute walking distance. Praja Formosa – a bathing bay with a sandy beach – can be reached within ca. 15-20 minutes. Leisure activities include sea fishing, whale and dolphin spotting excursions, bike rental, fishing, golf, gym, hang-gliding, hiking, jogging, mountain hiking, mountaineering.

So, we are back from our vacation. Yesterday was first day at work over two weeks, it was quite unusual. We spent our two weeks superbly! We had sun and rain both. We even went to swim in the ocean and shocked local ones with it. It is a bit cold for them, but OK for us. Our apartment was fine, we had everything we needed and even more. Our biggest friend (as everyones, I think!) from the very first day, was little Menino. He learned quickly, that we get up in the morning about half past 8 and he was waiting behind the door every morning to have a breakfast with us. He liked almost everything what we eat, especially cheese, whipped cream and ice-cream! He was lovely attraction without any additional charge! So, Timo, thank You very much and Uschi of course for everything! I did`nt had chance to meet Your father.
