Villa Chella is on a hillside overlooking the sea and is is surrounded by gardens. It is luxurious incorporating many Madeiran features. These include a balcony and patios offering maximum sunshine. Secluded and approached by a secure gated drive with ample parking. The location is perfect for exploring Madeira. Calheta village has the most sun and the least rain of any destination on the island. The golden sandy beach is 5 minutes away (by car) and there is a beautiful Marina with shops, restaurants and a supermarket. 5 minutes drive takes you to Jardim do Mar (garden on the sea), a picturesque village or 10 minutes, to Levada walks through pine and eucalyptus forests. More adventurous walks, beautiful gardens, Quintas and places to see are not far away as Madeiras new road system insures a maximum journey time of 30-40 minutes. For golfers there are 2 championship courses.

Suitable for the elderly and those with minor disabilities but not the infirm (steep drive with parking at the top and two steps into the villa).

Travel
To Calheta (villa) - Funchal airport 45 km (40 minutes drive). From the villa - Funchal town 35 km (25 minutes drive).
Distances
Calheta supermarket , 5 minutes drive. Ribera Brava (large supermarkets, numerous shops), 15 minutes. Jardem do Mar (surfing and swimming). Calheta beach (sandy and shallow for swimming). Calheta Marina (deep sea fishing, whale and dolphin watching, selection of restaurants) all 5 minutes from the villa by car. Full information packs for other places of interest are in the villa.
Further details
Calheta in South West Madeira, the sunniest place in the island, has recently become popular for tourism but is not overdeveloped. It offers spectacular scenery and wonderful Lavada Walks though pine and eucalyptus forests as well as the usual beach/pool side holiday. Calheta and the surrounding villages show you the real Madeira and its friendly people. Local restaurants are numerous providing good food at a very reasonable price. A car is necessary to see all the sites, for example Funchal which is an attractive cultural city full of history or the wonderful vistas seen from the Cable car. The North side of the island is also spectacular but must be viewed when the sky is clear. Wherever you go in Madeira the scenery is always changing which is part of its attraction.
Booking notes
Rental rates for a week are £500 for 2 adults. Additional adults at £15 per day. Rates include fresh linen and towels. A cleaning charge of 50 EUROS is payable in advance to Rose. Reservations: A £250 deposit is required to confirm a booking. Balance of rental is payable six weeks before arrival. If a booking is made within six weeks of arrival full payment is required. Refundable deposit of £100 for damages. The owners do not accept any liability for accident or injury at the property.

About the owner
Retired professional couple. Villa Chella is our home during the winter months November to the end of March. We often have our family and grandchildren to stay. The Villa therefore reflects a home environment with creature comforts. It has a beautiful garden designed by the owners as was the Villa to high specifications.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We bought the land in 2001. The villa was completed in 2003. We selected this area as it has more sunshine than any other location on the island. It is reasonably remote from the village of Calheta but within easy access to local shopping facilities and the beach. It is also within easy access of the Rapide into Funchal.
It is very close to open countryside and numerous Levada walks. We love it!
Unique benefits of the property
The villa has a desk top computer with facilities for watching on line films. The television and radio has freeview acess to BBC 1,2,3 and 4 and other English speaking channels. There is also a DVD player and numerous DVDs are available to watch.
