Lozere self-catering holiday accommodation is set in the northernmost department of the Languedoc-Roussillon region. This part of the country is sparsely populated and much of the landscape here is covered in forest. At Lozere self-catering holiday gites you’ll be in a fantastic location to get out and enjoy some truly breathtaking landscapes, taking part in a wealth of outdoor recreation, including fishing, with three of the best trout rivers in the country - Tarn, Truyere and Lot found inside the borders here. The Cevennes National Park is reachable from Lozere holiday chalets, and boasts mountains, with Mont Lozere standing at 1699 metres.

At the source of the Rover Lot is the spa town of Bagnols-les-Bains, well worth a visit from a Lozere self-catering cottage. It’s been frequented for its salubrious waters since Roman times and overlooking the town are the spectacular ruins of the medieval Chateau de Tournel, dating back to the 1200s, with its towers partially intact. Natural wonders found close to Lozere holiday apartments include l’aven Armand and la grotte de Dargilan, two large caves discovered in the late-19th Century and boasting spectacular geological features beyond the usual stalactites and stalagmites. Another spectacular landmark to admire during your holiday at a Lozere villa would be the extensive Tarn Gorges, which also boast a great diversity of wildlife.

Weather

During your stay at Lozere holiday cottages you can expect plenty of warm weather in summer, when temperatures are consistently high from June to September. Winters can be cold, especially in the north due to the high altitude.

Best Time to Visit

Summer is the best time to be at a holiday rental in Lozere, when you can make the most of the stunning natural scenery.

Reaching Lozere

Perhaps the best way to get to Lozere self-catering chalets and gites is to fly to Rodez (RDZ) from London-Stansted via Ryanair.
