A self-catering option is also available for 800 USD per week with twice weekly bathroom cleaning, bed linen and towel change. For 1000 USD per week you receive the above with full maid service daily including house cleaning and beds turned down each evening. The serviced rate with breakfast included is 1500 USD per week.

Utility Room: Washing machine and ironing facilities included as extra. Utility room access limited to housekeeping service.
Living Rooms: Living room with three-piece suite, additional armchairs and large open fire. Access to veranda and gardens and has separate dining room with garden access.

linen/maid service:
Maid service available for housekeeping needs. Bed linen and towels provided and changed twice weekly. The beds are turned down every evening and whole house cleaned daily. There is a dry cleaning service available as extra.

Notes on accommodation
Minimum capacity for the house is three people during the high season. The house is booked in its entirety. Families can use the master suite for sharing with young children, and a twin room is also available for sharing. Just a short walk away is a brand new shopping mall with numerous shops, cafes, banks and restaurants.

Accessibility
The downstairs bedroom is self contained and accessible for guests with mobility problems.

Outside
The private gardens boast mature indigenous trees and an incredible array of bird species, the odd squirrel and even tortoise! There is ample parking and private access to the compound. The communal swimming pool is a short walk away.

About the owner
Murangi House was built in 1952 by an English woman settled in Kenya. It is located in the leafy Nairobi suburbs of Karen (named after Karen Blixen, pen name of the author of Out of Africa). My family moved into the house in 1974, when I was just a child. It was an idyllic childhood living just across the road from the Nairobi National Park: watching giraffe from the veranda; feeding Sykes and Vervet monkeys in the garden; and listening to the distant roar of lions while drifting off to sleep at night. Many a wedding were hosted on the grounds of Murangi House, including my own! The house was situated on five acres of land, recently developed into an exclusive gated community, with Murangi House at its heart. We invite you to stay with us while in Nairobi and enjoy fabulous home cooking!!
