Outside
Chingwede is set in lush gardens typical of the Kenyan coast, with lovingly nurtured tropical plants and lush green grass. An indigenous forest separates the house from the beach, and the beach is accessible along a 20 yard private sandy path. The swimming pool is private, and set in front of the house looking over the indigenous forest below to the Indian Ocean.
Coast/Beach
Chingwede is on an elevated site overlooking the Msambweni bay through a grove of coconut palms. The house is set back about 60 metres from a broad sandy beach 2kms long from headland to headland. At low tide there are tidal pools and excellent goggling on the Msambweni Reef some 400 metres from the shore. It is a working beach with the local Digo fishermen paddling or sailing out in their dugout canoes in traditional style to feed the village.
Golf
Leisure Lodge Hotel in Diani Beach (30 minutes drive from Msambweni) has an 18 hole Golf course. It is possible to book and play.
