The property is set at the end of a long track, 3 kilometres from the main Kilifi Malindi road and is right on the sea front because it has been built on a small sand dune, there is always a breeze - sometimes quite windy, but there are blinds to protect those sitting on the front veranda. The views from the roof top are stunning and one can get a 360 degree view from the roof top.

Notes on accommodation
Water comes from the mains, but we use solar and wind power for electricity. Care must be taken though to preserve energy, as sometimes this can run out in the middle of the night.
Accessibility
The house is not suitable for people with mobility problems as the outside ground is uneven and it is a double story house.
Outside
The garden runs down to the beach, it is a simple garden with palms, frangipanis and bougainvillea growing. There is some shade, so one can sit outside under the trees if you wish, to get away from the house.
Coast/Beach
The house is on the beach, so a gentle stroll will take you there. The beach is about 800 metres long, it is sandy and at times of the year there can be a bit of seaweed.
Travel
The nearest airport is Malindi, which is an hour's drive away, or Mombasa which is an hour and a half's drive away. Hiring of a car is recommended
Distances
The nearest biggest town of the area is Kilifi which is 20 kms from the house going south. A visit to the boatyard on the creek for lunch is a must.... especially on a Saturday when all the residents come out of the woodwork and have a jolly. Mnarani Club which is on the south side of the creek provides water skiing, lasers and fishing boats for hire. North, on the way to Watamu one can visit the Arabo Sikoko forest for early morning walks. In Watamu is a lovely marine park, worth a visit.
Further details
Kilifi town accommodates - a Barclays Bank, a couple of supermarkets, a lovely market for fruit and vegetable and 'Mama Kabiru's - a shop selling lovely fresh bread, alcohol, and small delights. If coming from Mombasa - a visit to the old town including Fort Jesus is a must. One of the best restaurants in the country, The Tamarind is worth a visit for some delicious sea food. Leaving Mombasa one will see a huge supermarket on the right - Nakumatt - where you can buy all your provisions. Opposite is Haller Park - a place for walking.

Owner profile
About the owner
My grand parents came out to this country from England in 1926. I was born and brought up in Kenya and love everything about it. At the moment I am running a business working with the Maasai people - creating bead and leather accessories. I and my partner live about two hours from Nairobi going south. We built the house at Wesa about three years ago and go and stay there as often as we can.
Year purchased: 2008
Why the owner chose a home in this location
We came across the land by chance - but we were looking up and down the coast for a suitable piece of land to buy. To me it is the most beautiful remote area on the whole of the coast - with easy access to the nearby towns of Kilifi, Watamu and Malindi. The beach is a working beach - lots of fishermen use it and moor their boats off shore. In fact it is a beach that one would have expected to find twenty years ago - it has kept it's charm.
Unique benefits of the property
I love the walks, the snorkelling, and the absolute tranquility of the area.... Having said that, the fishermen do come and go on their motorbikes - so there is local noise. It is one of the most beautiful houses I have stayed in along the coast - very spacious, light and airy.. Even if one is in a remote area, one has access to go up and down the coast and visit the different places of interest along the coast.
